|

While reading the Nokia forum I came across mention of this app for Symbian S60 v3 and v5
piPOIAlert uses a text file database to alert you to the proximity of POIs. I have had it running using the supplied test data but have not had the time yet to convert a PGPSW speed camera file for it.
It is freeware and requires self signing which can be done here
I originally posted this to a different forum but I think it is better here |

I've had a chance to have a play now.
It will not cope with a file that has more than 3100 lines (ie 3100 records)
It only works in km/h and metres and I can see no option to change it to mph
I have not tried it on the road yet and will have to hope that some of the 3100 cameras loaded are in my locale |

You might want to consider using something like Excel to sort the data and delete the locations not local to yourself to get the data size below the 3100 line limit - Mike |

That would be an option Mike but due to its lack of mph settings I have now dumped it.
Still on the prowl for a decent way of integrating Speed Cam data with Ovi maps. piPOIAlert rejected for the reasons above and SpeedCam will not run on S60 v5
The current speed camera data supplied and updated by Nokia is very poor in its quantity and type of cameras.
Still looking. |

I was surprised there were so few options for s60. When I asked devs about this I was told that it was more to do with performance issues that caused memory and speed issues with large databases.
There must be a way but clearly it's not easy or we'd be seeing more apps that offered speedcam support? _________________ Darren Griffin |
