See RA has now got a model that updates via the internal sim. Not a new concept, I think POGO has had it for a while. Main difference is RA subscription seems a lot lower than POGO.

I have had the Road Angel Professional Connected with this feature for 2 years. I purchased it to replace my Pogo Alert, which locked up during an update and which Origin seemed unable to help me sort out. I don't think the Pogo does have this option; their web site just mentions PC & MAC updates.

Only two years behind the times - that's good for me. I've been looking for a device that will connect to a Mac, so 'connected' devices came as a bit of an afterthought.

It's a real boon never having to remove it from the car to apply updates, just seeing the led flashing to tell you whenever it receives an update.

Are there any video reviews of the new RA Vantage unit?

Also how good is the data that it uses?

Live updates via users is a great idea but is it any use?
I mean that TT uses RA data but seems to be rubbish even with the user live camera input.

There was one report suggesting TT has an agreement with law and order agencies that it will not immediately report new camera positions, the suggestion was it would wait 12 months before putting them on the db. So possibly they get RA information promptly but use a 12 month delay. If so mobile camera information can be completely discounted, and allowances need to be made for the accuracy of its other camera reports.

If its 12 months old then i would call that Dead data not live data!
Thats not how the live services are sold.

Yes, the implication is real time update of mobile cameras. Nothing so specific for static cameras though? One report is not a good basis for assessing the device, only day to day use will do that. With the 1000/Via models you are so far limited to TT's database. TT promises more access to 3rd party POI sets next year. But still a bit of a gamble - jam tomorrow [as said elsewhere].
