|
|
Hi there,
I currently have a 4 yr old Garmin Nuvi which has very nearly been thrown out of the window too many times. I also have a PGPSW subscription and an iPhone.
While having the CamerAlert App running will give me the best Camera information, I guess it won't tell me when to turn etc.
In the absence of background apps running on the iPhone, is there anyway to integrate the PGPSW database into the TomTom application?
At the moment the TomTom will give me more functionality, but I want to make sure the Camera db I have is as accurate and up to date as possible
Thanks |

The TomTom iPhone app offers no option for setting up warnings for POI files, you can add the speed camera database to the iPhone app if your device is Jail Broken but it still doesn't warn, all you get is the icon on the nav display which is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard - Mike |

How very frustrating.
I guess this could be rectified by one of two ways - either have background apps running (hopefully in iPhone OS4 in a few week's/month's time), or TomTom doing the right thing and allowing some way of including a bit more functionality to their app.
D'you happen to know if any of the other iPhone Navigation apps would allow the PGPSW db to be incorporated into their offering(s)?
Thanks |

Sygic offers the best integration for the PGPSW database including spoken alerts but you must be running Jail Broken to add the required files - Mike |

I've just got out of that Jailbroken scenario thanks to the O2 unlock.
Looks like all the iPhone Apps are devoid of any ability to load the PGPSW db
While I have you, do the iPhone navigation apps allow you to plan a route on you desktop (using Google/Bing maps) and then transfer this to the iPhone (thus avoiding some of those awful routes a SatNav ha a tendancy to take you on)?
Thanks |

None of the iPhone apps for Navigation have any capability to connect to a PC for route planning or POI additions, as I said before Sygic have the best offering for Custom POI files but this requires a Jail Broken phone - Mike |
