|
|
Hi all
I'm running TomTom speed cameras with 'Warn when near POI' set up on speed zoned cameras. On a few occasions, after updating, I have lost all the warnings and have had to go in and reset them all (quite a long task for speed zoned cameras!).
Does anyone know where these settngs are held on a TomTOm One XL, is there a file I could backup and restore, etc?
Many thanks

Pete, you need to copy the "MapSettings.cfg" file from the device to your computer, this file resides in the Western_Europe map folder or the UK&ROI map folder depending upon your device/ installed map - Mike |

The file you are looking for is MapSettings.cfg and it's found in the UK & ROI (depending on which map you have) Folder.
Note this may, or may not, work across different Versions of the same Map. _________________ Richard

You don't say what you're updating.
If you're just updating the camera data files, you shouldn't lose the settings if you aredownloading the same version (spedd-zoned etc)
But if it is after a TomTom software update, the problem is that a new version of the operating software (Navcore) is often incompatible with the previous version's MapSettings.cfg file.
If you copy across the old version, it may well work, but you may find the TomTom refuses to start up and endlessly re-boots.
If that is the case, then there is a possible workround - you can try using the "Operate my device" feature in Home. If you add a new favourite while in that mode, it sometimes rewrites the file to the new format without losing the "warn when near" settings.
If that doesn't work, you just have to re-do the settings yet again! (Practise makes perfect... ) |

I have had this happen occasionally and have moved to the non speed zoned cameras becuase of it. I think it is when the battery goes flat in the TomTom...... |
