|

I can't help thinking that it is slightly more than co-incidence that a few days after joining this site, I get spam, promoting the use of "Photo-Block" to prevent speed cameras getting a picture of my numberplate.
Just for the record, I bought this product a couple of years ago after seeing a television report, and seeing re-prints of several magazine articles.
It MAY work - but only for a short while. In a few months, the numberplate crazes and goes brown. The highly reflective surface is lost, and the effect is lost.
I have six points to PROVE that it is a failure! |

As you have your email address in your profile it is clearly visible to web crawlers in every post you make here (see the 'email' button). The only unusual thing is the targetted nature of the Spam.
We DO NOT sell or offer the user email database to any 3rd party and will never do so. It is used to verify user regsitrations or to send you the newsletter if you requested it.
And the photo block doesn't work full stop. It's a simple matter to read the plate having run the image through software. And you risk another fine for using it. _________________ Darren Griffin |

At the risk of turning this thread into my personal GoogleAds winge thread (maybe we need one in the Off Topic Forum, if so, please feel free to split this off!):
Particularly annoying Ad showing just now! Clicking on it takes you here, which gives no clue to what the site is. I presume it is some sort of on-line casino! _________________ Jock

They are now up to 3.0.9 and 1.0.5 if you hadn't noticed. Dunno why people suffer from ads either! |

Updated to that FF yesterday. You are mistaken, versions here, 1.0.5 is the helper. |

Hmm, perhaps because ad income is what pays for some of this site? If everyone blocked the ads then we'd have to find other ways to pay some of the bills?
Ads are a fact of life, I can understand the annoyance of pop-up, pop-under ads but we try to balance annoyance with necessity. Their ain't no thing as a free lunch you know! _________________ Darren Griffin |

We see you’re using an ad-blocker. We’re fine with that and won’t stop you visiting the site.
Have you considered making a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!
