When I connected to TomTom Home yesterday it gave me the option to update from V2.5... V2.6..., which I accepted. Now I can't get into TomTom Home. The message I get is as follows :-
TomTomHOMERuntime.exe failed with error 0: Process failed to startup correctly.
I have uninstalled TomTom Home completely, rebooted my PC and then tried to reinstall from the above web address. After installing, rebooting again, trying TomTom Home again I get exactly the same error.
The peculiar thing is that immediately after re-installing, it tells me that it's trying to start V2.6. But if I then try to use the shortcut that's just been created it tries to start V2.5. Looks the install has really screwed my PC up.
Can anyone help me to resolve this problem please. I have raised an Incident with TomTom, but I don't expect to get an answer for several days. At the moment I will be unable to update my GOLive. _________________ Al

Just a thought, but it sounds like you are starting two versions.
If it says it's starting 2.6, why are you using the shortcut?
I would delete the shortcut, or edit it to point at the correct version, or create a new one from the new version.
What happens if you leave it starting 2.6 and don't use the shortcut?
Sorry if I've raised more questions, I'm just trying to understand the problem. _________________ Mike

Sorry, I probably didn't explain myself very well.
When I re-install TomTom Home I'm then saying that I want to start TomTom Home. In this situation it brings up the indication that it is trying to start V2.6... It fails as indicated previously.
The only other way I can try and start TomTom Home, is to use the shortcut, or from the Start menu. When I try this is indicates that it's trying to start V2.5... _________________ Al

It appears that if you click the BACK button at the bottom left of the screen the process restarts. That may help. _________________ Mike

If you have moved the old shortcut to somewhere else on the Start menu or added a shortcut somewhere else, the installer for the new version won't find it to delete it, but WILL delete the program.
So you are left with broken shortcuts pointing to the old version.
I get this all the time because for lots of programs I like to move the automatically-added shortcuts around. I take them out of the programs list and put them in "accessories" for example.
That might be the cause of that part of the problem. As for the main issue, have you tried the suggestions in the other topic about this, e.g. installing the MS "dot_net framework"?
Also, if you know what you are doing, you could remove all references to Home from the Windows registry. Back it up first and don't do it if you aren't completely confident, as you can *really* mess up your PC if you get it wrong.

Thanks for all the suggestions. After trying several things it is now sorted.
I had several responses from TomTom support, including another method of starting TomTom Home. Unfortunately none of these worked.
There were no shortcuts or folders left lying around in other places, I checked thoroughly. I also checked the registry, but could find no entries left over after uninstalling.
I then tried installing in a different folder, TomTom HOME 2.6 rather than TomTom HOME 2. This sorted the problem, and everything now works as it should using V2.6... Looks like there was something left around from uninstalling V2.5.., though I could not find anything.
Thanks again for the help. _________________ Al
