|
|
Recently downloaded map v8.25 but need to copy over my mapshares from previous / older map (as Tom Tom have not added some road speed changes in this latest release). I have a full back up of my older map v8.15 on my PC and would like to extract the correct files or folders to add to v8.25 but not sure what to copy over or if this is possible?
Any one know if this can be done?.
Cheers in advance! _________________ TT Go 720 v8.204

It is NOT possible to copy corrections between maps. They need to ALL be manually corrected again on the new map im afraid! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

falkirk81 Thanks for getting back to me and for your advise! - Much appreciated.
Not sure I have the patience to download all my corrections from scratch YET again and why should I bother to submit them to Tom Tom if they arn't going to vertify and use them for future releases?.
Take for example the new A127 SPECS near where I live in Essex (also announced in detail and discussed on this forum some time ago) I corrected the incorrect road speeds to 50mph between each SPEC and yet TOM TOM have not included the new speeds in the new map! As of today the speeds reverts back to 70mph. THIS IS CLEARLY WRONG!!!!
Based on this I have also decided to let my expensive map update quarterly subscription run out and not renew for a few years as it feels my older map was more up-to-date than the latest release. (Well at least my local area was!) and I am not sure what major changes are in the v8.25 It feels like I am paying for the data 'blind' I never know what is included in each update!.
Rant over for now!
Again thanks for your help and quick advise Falkirk81. _________________ TT Go 720 v8.204

I only use my own corrections as like others i don't trust TomTom.
as i'm a HGV driver i'm more bothered about wrong one way streets and its getting harder to remember all of them. _________________ Time for bed says Zebadee

I have a TomTom One v2 ("new edition"). As far as I can see, I have no way to change the speed limits on a section of road (the same section of road, batties).
I also can't figure out how to convince it that the roundabout in Rochdale at the junction of St Mary's Gate/Yorkshire Street and Whitworth Road/Johns Road is no longer a roundabout.
Mind you, those who can access http://routes.tomtom.com/map/?center=53.6204655886188%2C-2.1537570696021966&zoom=15&ui=8 will see that TomTom can't figure it out either.
Does anyone know of a list of what devices support what mapshare operations? |

Hi Jellyroll...
Can you let us know the software and map versions you have, as MapShare is dependant on them rather then the unit itself.
To find them both, tap the signal strength bars and then tap the samll "version" box. The next screen should give a whole load of written info.
IIRC, early versions of mapshare could only report speed limit cahnges. Newer versions can actually correct it on your own map.
NO version of MapShare can correct roundabouts (or add/take away *any* type of road feature) - you can only report them. |

App 7.903 (9183/081205)
Map: "United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland' v825.2159
OS 2344
GPS v1.21
Boot 5.0500
The only "Correct location" options I have are:
- (Un)bock street
- Reverse traffic direction
- Edit street name
- Add missing POI
- Edit POI
- Report other error
"Report other error" gives me:
- Existing street
- Missing street
- City
- POI
- Motorway entrance/exit
- Postcode
- Roundabout
- Other
No "speed limit" option.
The problem with this particular roundabout in Rochdale is that it appears, because of its unusual shape (with a one-way-street in the middle of it servicing a church), to have been constructed as a set of one-way street segments with "No Right Turn" restrictions in addition, so "delete roundabout" won't work. I've tried editing the individual segments to make them two-way or completely blocked, but because I don't have the option to remove the right-turn restrictions, I always end up with the result appearing to be unroutable by the device. |

I can't remember exactly which app version is needed to change the extra bits like road speed and turns but I'm sure it was 8 something.
If you get Home to update your application (8.302 is the latest), you will get the extra mapshare functions. The application is free.
Remember to BACK UP first. _________________ Gerry

I don't think version 8 was made available for the One v2. |

v7.903 is the latest for the ONE new/2nd edition I'm afraid, so you're up to date.
There should be a section in "existing street" to report speed limits, but no way to actually change them on that version. |

On both my 530 and 940 on the upgrades from 8.15 to 8.25, my personal non-shared map changes survived the upgrades and that surprised me. I always thought that the map changes I made were saved in the maps folder in mapuserpatch.dat but on deleting this they remained. They appear to remain in the root directory in userpatch.dat as deleting this file removed them and putting it back over the automatically created replacement brought them back.
I have no idea if thye remained as there were no obvious changes to the map in the area where I made these changes or if they would have worked whatever.
I checked they were my changes by using the Home remove changes made by user function. _________________ Drivelux |

Not all my mapshare corrections survived the latest map upgrade. Some did, some didn't :S _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

I'm sure it wouldn't break any commercial secrets for TomTom to give us a BIT more idea of how it is supposed to all work.... |
