The Register is reporting Here that TomTom are to supply 'sexy' new voices for all new TomToms sold for Valentine's Day.
I wonder how much they will add to the cost of the device? _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

I wasn't going to bother posting this, I hope they aren't paying their marketing bods too much if this is the best they can drum up!:
Quote: | Get Brad, Sean, Kylie or Claudia in your car this February
"You have reached your destination..." whispers the sultry voice of Kylie, as you take the last turn into your drive. "Wow - thanks Kylie - I couldn't have done it without you." All in your head? Not any more! TomTom is offering four of the most desirable voices* for Valentine's Day this year, completely free of charge, with every purchase of a TomTom sat nav between 7 and 21 February 2009.
The dreamy voice of Brad, Kylie, Sean or Claudia could soon be taking you to your chosen destination - simply connect the new sat nav to TomTom's easy to use software, TomTom HOME, and download the voices to the device - it takes just a couple of minutes.
There's a TomTom product suitable for every driver and every budget, so put some direction into your loved one's life with the gift they'll want to listen to all day! All models are available now from Halfords, Comet, Currys.Digital, Amazon, John Lewis and all good electrical retailers.
*Note: The voices provided are soundalike voices, and not the voices of real celebrities. |

Another silly gimmick. I tried John Cleese once and it was funny for the first journey. after that he was just boring. I still don't think you can beat Tim or Jane for recorded voices or Kate or Simon for Computer voices. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Hi Calomax
I agree with you entirely. I travelled in a car as a passenger a few weeks ago and the driver had his Tomtom using a voice of a ‘Hell Fire’ preacher. For the first few miles it was quite funny but after a short time I wanted to throw the device out of the window.
Tim and Jane will never be surpassed in my opinion. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.
