You beat TomTom to it! They have only just notified us of the update:
TomTom have this afternoon announced the availability of the latest update for GO x20/x30 devices.
The update is available for TomTom GO x20 and x30 series devices only and has a version number of 8.300 (build 9732). As usual you should connect your device to HOME to obtain the update and as usual you should ensure a full backup of both your device and mapsettings.cfg (if you wish to preserve your custom alert configurations!).
The update essentially contains bug fixes and two new additional features:- Support for IQ Routes 24/7 data (map version 8.15 or higher required)
- Support for SDHC cards (8GB and higher)
More information can also be found within the TomTom Support FAQ here and TomTom plan to announce the availability of the 8.15 map shortly. _________________ Darren Griffin

Interesting (and a bit of a shame) that 8.3 retains the 'old' icons rather than the refreshed icons as implemented on the x40 series (which ships with 8.2!).
Perhaps TomTom see it as another differentiator between the two ranges? |

Just installed, not that concerned about the new icons, but they have put in the next road in the top right hand corner change that was appreciated from the version from before where the voices didn't work. Voices now work so all is greatly appreciated.
Also when new maps come out, will be able to use new IQ routes, so all good news for me.
Also now all works the custom menu that Mike A. was talking about is now an option for those who want the new icons.
Cheers
Carl

So its interesting they say you need map 8.15 onwards....yet the x40 ships with 8.10 and has support for 24/7 IQ data. |

Have I misunderstood something here, this needs map 8.15 or higher but the highest UK map for the x30 series I can see on their site is 8.10? |

Here's the list of changes from TomTom's site :
Version 8.300
(TomTom GO x20 and x30 series only)
Support for IQ Routes 24/7 data (map version 8.15 or higher required)
Support for SDHC cards (8GB and higher)
Just one problem - you can't actually download a 8.15 map so the 24/7 change is a bit pointless.. (and yes I checked my 8.10 map just in case

So all you need do is wait for the next series of maps to be rolled out and you will have the IQ Routes function.
I think the last set of maps came out at the start of October so not long to wait, start of January? |

What's the big idea TomTom? I install the update for my x30. I subscribe to your latest map service.
But my map is v810 and I check for an update here but there's none!!
So who exactly is the 24/7 IQ Routes for then when using a x30 series ??? _________________ TT GO 1005 |

Have the POI Icons changed on the x20 series?
The ones on mine look diferent, but I'm not sure, they also seem to be labelled on the map differently, ala x40?

I've asked for clarification, the current v81.0 map offers Weekday/Weekend IQ Routing data whereas I imagine the yet to be released v8.15 map will contain embedded 24/7 IQ routing data.
if as seems likely they need to release the update to pave the way for the 8.15 map but why not make this clear i.e. map version 8.15 map or higher required, map will be released shortly? _________________ Darren Griffin |

They are now in-line with the x30/x40 icons. Not necessarily a step forward IMHO.
And TomTom have confirmed that all being well, news of the 8.15 map will follow in a day or so. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Interesting, I don't suppose this update also includes Voice Control, I find this one of the more useful features of the x40 range ?? |

I'm not sure why it's made such a big deal of on the x40, it's simply an extension of that already available and no more useful. You still have to interact with the touch screen far too often to justify calling it voice control IMHO. _________________ Darren Griffin |
