Received my Satmap in the post this morning, a combination of several past birthdays and Christmas presents (we never know what to buy each other) Now to learn how to use it
My wife is as keen on it as I am – when we walk she is always working out how far, how high and how long – now we will know.
Tomorrow we walk Aldbury – Pitstone Hill – Ashridge so we will see if it is as far as we always thought
I have never had a GPS unit before – possibly Satmap may not be ideal for an absolute beginner but being retired for a number of years I have plenty of time to get to grips with it. I have been reading the expert comments on here which helped me make up my mind
Satmap tell me I have bought the largest map in their library they will be able to improve the speed at which the unit shows this map on their next release, due out in a couple of weeks.
Many thanks to the contributors to this forum for their helpful hints and comments
regards Alan |

Welcome Alan, I hope you and your wife enjoy your walks with your new gadget! My wife and I went out for a 12 miler in the baking sun today and I was so focused on the Trip Log page that I didn't notice an adder slithering across the path a couple of feet in front of me!
Enjoy! _________________ I Go To The Hills.............
