Have you got a Windows back up you can copy back to the device? _________________ Anita

Do you have a copy of TT's PC utility "Home" on your computer yet?
If no download it from HERE (left hand green box).
Connect up the Go to the PC and run the Home utility.
If the Go is not recognised by Home, repeat the exercise but using the OTHER version of Home (right hand green box on that webpage).
Then, first try THIS
and if that doesn't work, try this:
Quote: |
Using Home to trigger a new download of software by removing the system files:
Delete the files from the root directory of the TomTom. Follow the steps below to do this:
1. Reset your TomTom device: http://www.tomtom.com/6965 and connect it to your computer.
2. Open My Computer in Windows, or Finder in Macintosh from your desktop and turn on your TomTom device.
3. On your screen a new removable disk appears, this is your TomTom device, click on the disk to open it.
4. You will see a list of folders and a list of loose files
5. Delete all of the loose files. IMPORTANT: The folders with their content must NOT be deleted.
5. Close the window when all files are deleted by clicking on the {x}.
Next we will reinstall the application via TomTom HOME.
First, go into TomTom Home and click on file / exit.
Now go into my documents on your PC / TomTom Home / Downloads / Program. Delete everything that is in this folder.
Now start TomTom HOME on your computer again
TomTom Home should automatically check for updates and prompt you to install them, if not:-
2. Click Install to TomTom.
3. Select the Application update.
4. Click on 'Device - Disconnect Device', then turn off your device when it is done installing and disconnect it from your computer. |
NOTE: The above was written for Home v1. For Home v2, replace instruction 2 by "Click on 'Update my device'..." |

It may be worth telling us what you HAVE done then, to avoid us wasting time making suggestions you have already tried.
Also, what did you do just before it stopped working...... |

Right, that's relevant.
If the battery is deeply discharged, it will not power up.
Put it on charge for at least 5 hours and try again.

No, a "pin in the hole" reset just turns the device off fully (it normally just goes into a "sleep mode" when you think you've "switched it off").
The program is rebooted but no personal data is touched.
It's like re-booting your PC. |

I'm not sure how you can connect to the PC and get updates if the screen NEVER changes - usually you have to tap the screen when it asks "Do you want to connect to Computer".
Anyway, IF it never changes at all even when connected to the PC, then it looks like it may be broken.
If it's less than 2 years old it's under guarantee - ring TomTom
If it's older - get in touch with http://www.satnav-shop.com/ for a reliable repair. |

Connect it to the PC and use Windows Explorer to view the devices files, are there any files listed within the root of the drive and also can you see some folders?
It could be the device isn't booting up due to the main application file being corupt or possibly missing, but you would get the PC connection - Mike |
