|
|
Been trying on and off for 5 months now to get the database to work on my Nuvi 360 without any sucess at all.
I can see the bmp and csv files (I've gone for the consolidated version) in the Nuvi memory, both within a folder transferred from my laptop and as files not inside any folder. I've also copied these files into the Waypoints folder in the Nuvi memory, which was previously empty.
I cannot set proximity alerts on the unit, as that option doesn't exist.
I've also noticed that csv and bmp are not supported file types - the manual says only gpi files.
Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? Preferably in very simple terms please. |

You need to use a program called POILoader to transfer the files. You can't do it manually. You can also set the Proximity Alert from POILoader or just allow it to set the default settings...
POILoader is available from Garmins website.
Full instructions are here on our website

Thanks for the quick reply Paul. I did try to follow the original suggestions. I''ve got the POI loader on my laptop, had it since October. I've opened it loads of times: it extracts some zipped files, installs them but the final stage which says you can load POI's does nothing - I click on the run box, nothing. I click done, and it closes.
Confused. |

Once you have downloaded POILoader, you double click it to install it to your laptop. Then you have to run the program and follow the instruction on the screen.
Have you actually RUN (i.e. clicked on the icon on the Start Menu) the program or just re-installed the program over and over?
I would try re-downloading it in case you have a corrupt download. Doesn't sound like anything I've experienced with POILoader in 2 and a half years.... |

'fraid I must be a real dunce, because I've just downloaded the POI Loader again from Garmin, saved it to my C drive, Run the application. The final message is "set up of POI Loader complete"
There is a tick box to "launch now" - ticking or unticking makes no difference - nothing happens when clicking on the words "launch now".
the other option on this screen is a "done" box to close.
I'm pretty much ready to give up on this - no point in even thinking about renewing my subscription when it doesn't work.
PS - was my point about CSV files not being supported relevant? |

Have you tried laucning it from the Start Menu?
Uninstall POILoader, then delete the C:\program files\poiloader folder if it exists (it might even be c:\program files\garmin\poiloader) and reinstall POILoader once more. It sounds like its not installing properly.

The data has to be in CSV or GPX format with a matching BMP for the icon to start with. POILoader converts it to GPI format. |

After a bit more perseverance, I uninstalled the previous version of poi loader, found a couple of related earlier versions of files which I deleted, reinstalled poi loader and managed to get it to complete the process of running! The poi's are now downloaded to the Nuvi, so I'll give it a try in the next day or so, but am optimistic. Much appreciate your help and patience Paul. |
