Last November I bought the Western_Europe map 1GB for my TomTom500. That installed ok. However, I now have a TT520 and try as I might cannot download my previously purchased map. I can see the map to download in TT Home but in red underneath says that it cannot be installed on this device. TT support say it can but it wont.Anybody got any ideas?? I have a 2GB SD card in the slot and there is 1605.05MB free.

The recent software upgrade for TTHome has content protection as such in that it only allows maps for a specif device to be installed. Since it appears you originally had a map for a 500, the Home software prevents its being reinstalled on another device. It would even prevent reinstallation on another 500 model.
Apparently, some people have gotten around this restriction by 'downgrading' their TTHome software to a version prior to 7.22 (I think) and so, they say, they have been able to dl the map previously purchased. I don't know; just reporting what I read, not tried.

I recently had v715 Western and Central Europe credited to my account...
On the day that I had to replace my Go 720 for a new unit.
But all that happened was that once TT had amended the device serial registered to my account for the NEW device, I was then able to download it fine.
So the key here possibly, is having TT accredit the device to the same account the map was originally purchased.
I 'think' doing this is perfectly within rules, as best I know it.
So maybe go back to TT and ask them if this is needed, or allowed?
