|
|
Can anyone tell me why I get a warning on the M25 on my Garmin Nuvi 350 of a variable speed camera and a 3 mph warning? yes 3 mph not 30mph. I get it between Leatherhead and M3 turn off. Thanks |

Any chance of being a bit more specific?
I count 8 variable speed cameras on the northbound carriageway between Leatherhead and the M3 junction.
I don't have a Nuvi, but on my TomTom I can tap on a camera icon on the "browse map" screen and find out the camera's ID number. Tell us that number.
Also the speed limit for that camera is included in the ID. All of them are correctly set with a speed of "0" (meaning a variable speed cam) on the TomTom's .ov2 version of the database, so it must be either a problem specific to the Garmin version (doubtful, as they are compiled from the same raw data, but you can check when you find the ID number) or with how you have set up the warnings on your device. |

All 8 of the variable cameras seem to give me a 3 mph warning, I have just erased two files from the downloads that are not replaced when updated so maybe they were causing the problem. Lets see next time I go round the M25!! |

Does the Nuvi let you "demo" a route? |

Yes and all my variable gatso give me a 3 mph reading, all those in pocketgps_uk_gatso_var that is
for instance Gatso:14661@0 still gives me 3 mph
All the gatso_var have an @0 and all give 3 mph, if I change the .csv file to be @30 it says 30mph, but 0 or var defaults to 3mph
Must be something to do with Garmin software
Thanks for your help |

Yes I think you are right. If I remove the 0 and or the @ as well also gives 3mph. Anything other than 20, 30, 40 etc gives 3mph.
I will have to assume that 3mph means variable speedsm, and accept the bleeping to tell me I am exceeding the speed limit, unless you can debug it.
Thanks anyway |

As I don't have a Nuvi, I'm not absolutely sure. However, this topic from 2006 talks about "manual mode" in POILoader and how that is used when the speed in the csv file is set to @0 as the variable speed camera are.
EDIT: was typing this before latest posts from MaFt and Roger. May still be relevant. _________________ Gerry

Helpful but I still cannot see what I have to do to get variable speeds instead of a value such as 70 mph |

If that's the fix, you could set it to beep at above 50 or 60 say. There's no way of knowing what the limit is going to be until you are there. I don't know what other Nuvi users do in this situation.
I have my TomTom set the same as a 70 limit but I get warned about every camera regardless of the speed I'm doing. _________________ Gerry

Have you renamed the files after you downloaded them?
Are you using Express or Manual mode on POILoader?
Is it the latest version of POILoader? Latest version is Click Here |

What is the folder called?
I've just done a demo run M25 J10 to M1 and the cameras come up at 0 mph.
Can you confirm the warning is something like
GATSO:12345@3 |

The folder is called "speed cameras" and the file is GATSO:12345@0 and give me 3mph in the display when I get to the camera and beeps if I go over 3 mph. |
