|
|
Hi All,
I've installed the topo and chucked it on my GPSMAP 60CSX - fine. However, when I view the TOPO on Garmins website (it gives you a little preview of the product - so I zoomed in to Bolton) it shows me footpaths- but the these footpaths are not shown on my device. I get all the pubs, roads, cash points etc but no footpaths.
Most confusing - any ideas? It is GB TOPO V2 i've got.
Thanks for your help guys/gals

nah didn't work - i just "ticked" Bolton map. It shows me all the roads, waters, and contours - but no footpaths. Another thing which is wierd is tt doesn't auto route on the roads. It calculate the routes but only using the Internaitonal Base Map.
I don't have City Navigator install BTW - is that why? Is that a separate product?
I've only had the garmin a week |

Give me a location to check!
Have you got it on the PC?
Which version ----v2?
Have you unlocked the DVD and Unit?
The legal Topo is locked!
There are illegal copies without all the detail and autorouting! |

yep - that 's the problem - the base map only has major roads/towns on it.
The official way is to use City Navigator Europe NT but if you look through these forums there is a way to use the less expensive Garmin MetroMaps and a third party piece of s/w to make them routable. Sorry can't be of more help as I haven't done this - but there are several people who should be able to give you pointers. _________________ Phil |

That must be it - i've been given a copy of GB TOPO V2 off my mate, he said it was a copy if his TOPO and not an illegal one - saying that it must be as not unlocked anything - plus it's only 500MB and you mention DVD, so the one i have must be tiny in relation to the full version.
Bum flaps - so I'm gonna have to fork out more money to get the GB TOPO now - yikes. I'm a Moutain Rescue team member so only need it for footpaths, contours etc.
I think i'm gonna have to start saving again. About £100?
Thanks very much for your help though.

The full Topo v2 is 731 maptiles - 1660MB - with autorouting.
I have the full version and it is totally useless on my 'patch' [Pembrokeshire Coast Path].
Try other maps Fugawi and MM.
Give me a location of your path system and I will post a screenshot! |

I'm trying to view the paths around RIVINGTON in BOLTON - RIVINGTON PIKE should be on there and the path system around the TERRACED GARDENS.
So you don't need yours then? Would you be willing to sell?

thats rubbish - no way of unlocking them? Some people would genuinely want to trade them.
I have memory map for the whole of GB and that's awesome - i know i can't use it on my device - shame as its great _________________ You'll Dink Dank Do fer me!

It would help if you give a real GPS location as there are three Boltons.
Anyway here is the nearest I could find to your Location!
There is a screenshot of Pembrokeshire Coast path on the unit, as I have not loaded any of the three Boltons |

Oppps - sorry about that. Didn't think.
You found it anyway!
That looks more like it - i can see a couple of paths on the Rivington shot and also around your area. So my device is pretty useless. I suppose I can still use it as I know the paths etc round my area - just have to put my hands in my pocket for the Full Topo.
Trying to paste a picture for you but cannae work it out - basically the image from my area doesn't have any of what yours does (apart from the contours and water ways)
Eee i'm gutted now.
perhaps i'll just phone you when next up in the hills and get you to confirm I'm on the right path. _________________ You'll Dink Dank Do fer me!

Thanks
