|
|
Hi people,
I have the tomtom car kit and upgraded my software to 7.161 and now then the GO500 is in the cradel and turn the key it does not turn on. and if i take the key out it used to turn its self off but doesnt any more. did before I upgraded the software
I have been through the menus
-Change Prefs-Battery Saving Prefs-Done-Switch off when external power is lost
but the tomtom just keeps on coming up with the shut down screen every 20 seconds (driving or not), if I untick this option its fine but dont turn its self on/off with the ignition.
Any Thoughts? |

unfortunately due to the contact debacle on the 910 TomTom have decided to nix that feature (auto on). They have since re-enable auto off, but it may rely on different hardware than what you have... _________________ Lutz

There is no way of knowing which new version of software will have it. It is entirely upto the whim of TomTom.
The more people who ASK for the feature to be returned (via their (well hidden) feedback form or by asking a support question), the more likely it is to be implemented.
As for what you have to go back to....
The list I made HERE suggests that the auto power-off feature was removed with v6.110, released around June 15th 2006. |

I was going to put a link to it, but I've only got it in the bookmarks of my Home PC and I'm at work.
I spent a good ten minutes looking when I typed that post without any liuck! I've even emailed myself to dig it out and post it here when I get home!! |

I sincerely hope not - I want a proper feedback box, not just the same as mapshare. _________________ Dennis

Althouh I'm not using a car kit I've a 500 with the latest FW.
Over the weekend I was using the charger in the car and did something I don't usually do, I unplugged the charger before switching off the TT.
I got the 'will shutdown on 10 sec' displayed and the TT did indeed shutdown.
I'll check the options on mine when I get home and post back here. |

Thank you soooooo much Andy.
Now to find out how many characters it will accept.
PS My new map is now waiting for me today (that's for #6, having already got one for #7). All I need now is a few hours for the download. _________________ Dennis

Now you know it's there.....
Just as an experiment.....
Go to the TomTom Homepage as if you were a new user....
..... and see if you can find it again! |

Gerraway with you (or maybe I will some time). Only I've just downloaded and installed map v710 for #6. So both #6 and #7 now have v710. (looks quickly but can't find SMUG smileycon, so "hee, hee"). This time it took only 50 minutes from start to finish, including deleting old map/s, downloading and installing new one, connect to update mapshare and QuickGPSFix, copy old MapSettings.cfg! Oh, they were "purchased" maps, not Latest Map Guarantee, so they are still shutting us up by creating a paid for download instead of getting Latest Map Guarantee to work. Why don't you contact John G yourself? Tell him I sent you. _________________ Dennis
