|
|
Hi there.
I finally got around to removing the Co-Pilot that came with my XDA Orbit, and have installed Navigator 6 - and it was great to have proper instructions when I tested it on the way in to work this morning...
One thing though, I've transferred my Traffic subscription (previously had TT Mobile 5 on an SPV C600) but cannot get it to connect.
Whenever I try to connect to any TomTom Plus (even the account settings), I'm getting "Could not connect to TomTom Plus service. Please check the wireless data connection on your mobile phone".
The GPRS connection is definitely working - I've just viewed a web page on the phone.
Any clues?
Cheers

Depends on your type of GPRS connection.
Can you connect to/use the TomTom Weather function?
If you can't use that, either, then it might be your subscription not offering WEB GPRS. |

Check you have set the correct username and password for the traffic service in the new 'phone.
It's probably not relevant but the XDAOrbit is not on the support list for traffic when associated with a TomTom All-in-one PND _________________ Phil |

No, couldn't connect to TT Weather...
What do you mean 'web' GPRS? |

Phone you mobile service provider and ask them to enable GPRS on the phone, they do this by sending a message to enable the service directly to the handset, the web pages you are seeing might be wap not GPRS, the latter is needed to access the TomTom server, also double check the settings Phil mentioned earlier. The service works fine on my Artemis which your Orbit was based upon so I doubt there is an issue with the actual phone, the Artemis is pre loaded with TomTom installed as part of the ROM so I have allways thought it strange the device is not on the supported list - Mike |

Just spoken to O2...
Aaaarrgghhh!!!
"You'll need to speak to TomTom - GPS is nothing to do with the internet or your phone"
"No you muppet! I said GPRS. I know the difference!!" (Not the actual words I used...)
Anyway, upshot is that GPRS is enabled on my phone, so nothing to do with them...
Where do I check the user name and password? On the phone or the TomTom website? (Can't see them being wrong, but I'll give it a go). |

Hmmm...
Does this ever happen to you...?
Having tried and failed to get a response from O2, and not had a response from TomTom, I thought I'd just try accessing TomTom Plus again, just for the hell of it.
You know the rest, don't you?
My paranoid side would say someone at O2 or TomTom has done something behind the scenes, but maybe all I had to do was wait a day... |

I Use TT6 with my orbit and find it great. Never really looked into the TMC.
What's your data cost for using the GPRS & TT from 02 as there data charges can be very expensive... |
