Hi: complete geriatric newbie here, and like all newbies is going to be prone to making daft mistakes. . .
Our son introduced us to satnav a couple of weeks back by lending us his TomTom 510. We thought it was wonderful. So we've now bought our first satnav: a TomTom One XL Europe.
We are, however, having difficulties fixing / removing the TomTom from our steeply curved windscreen: it's a lo-o-nn-g reach across a de-ee-ep dashboard.
We were wondering whether to invest in a"dashboard mounting kit" but a friend who claims to "know" about these things said it's just as practical to buy a dashboard adhesive pad specially designed so that the existing XL windscreen mount can sit on it.
Only problem: we can't find any trace of any such a pad.
If anyone can offer any help, that'd be much appreciated!
PS: What a super site / forum this is.
PPS: slight disappointment to have bought the XL only to find there's no case for it, not even a pouch. Our fault for not checking, but as our son's 510 came with a soft-case, we (wrongly) assumed our XL would.
PPPS: we know Health & Safety rules OK, but it's a bit much to find on the XL's printed operating instructions that "this device should not be operated when driving". Huh???

Hi ssergorp7,
to the forum!
You have made a great choice in buying the TomTom ONE XL Europe.
I use a TomTom ONE v3 (the XL is a v4) attached to a Brodit ProClip on my dashboard with a Brodit Holder for the ONE. To aid security I also use Brodit Move Mounts. Total cost woul be arround £50 but is a worth while investement.
What vehicle(s) do you wish to use the ONE XL in?

Cases...
There are all sorts of camera, mp3 player, pda, types of cases that it should fit in, or an easy answer: a nice soft zip-up pencil case from W.H. Smiths
One word of warning, whatever mount you use, make sure you take it off, when you leave the car, including any sucker marks on the windscreen, or some scumbag will break into you car to see if the sat nav is in the glove box. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav
