|
|
ok, i've been doing some testing and here are my findings so far.
i used:
streetpilot i3 (original version with maps on TF card)
poi loader beta
test 1:
1st 10 in list + wifi + recreation
seperate files per sub category.
poi loader tells me 30,536 successfully installed
i3: would not boot up past i3 logo - ran poi loader again to remove already installed poi's - all fine
test 2:
just zoo
poi loader: 30 points installed
i3: loads fine, points appear in custom points list as expected.
test 3:
first five sub-categories (alphabetically: abbey, aldi, alfa_romeo, alliance_&_leicester, ambala_sweet_store)
installed successfully
i3: sub cats show up in usual place (custom points), icons show on map
test 4:
ALL sub categories installed
poi loader: 62807 points successfully installed
i3: turned on - seems to hang on boot screen... didn't wait to see if it would eventually start
test 5:
1st 50 sub cats installed (up to clarion_hotel)
poi loader: 10930 installed
i3: no problems
test 6:
1st 100 sub cats installed (up to hsbc)
poi loader: 24025 installed
i3: hangs on boot screen
retest using just 51-100 (clydesdale - hsbc)
13095 installed - works fine
limit would appear to be between 50 and 100 sub categories installed...
poi's from my site make up approx 75 categories and run fine alongside pgpsw speed cams (total of about 65,000 points) so the actual number does not seem to be an issue
test 7:
1st 75 sub cats installed (up to fire_station)
poi loader: 15439 installed
i3: no problems
1st 85 sub cats installed (up to gulf)
poi loader: 19650 installed
i3: no problems
1st 86 sub cats installed (up to gurdwara)
poi loader: 19887 installed
i3: would not boot up
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CATEGORIES YOU CAN INSTALL IS 85!!!

nuvi 360:
does not appear to have the same limit.
have successfully installed all poi sub-categories.
however, it takes a while to search through them all so i suggest you make use of the sub-folders in poi loader beta!

if your unit has 'died' on you then you will need to use either poi loader beta to uninstall poi's or use a card reader to delete the poi.gpi file from: garmin/poi/poi.gpi

P.S. I can't use POI loader because the unit doesn't even mount on my PC any more and the POI info is all stored on internal storage so I can't delete manually :x |

I posted a reply on bigant1986's thread so everyone knew that solution didn't work for me. I also made a post in the nuvi forum so people that don't check the POI forum knows there is a problem with the PGPSW POI database and the 660. Hardly every single thread.
A different USB port (or even a different PC) doesn't work either. |
