Hello

Bit of a n00b with this gps stuff tbh... Laughing

just a general query that i'm needing help with -

I've just bought the i3 and upgraded to latest firmware (v3.2)

Also subscribed to pocketgpsworld and downloaded the latest speed camera database which i have successfully loaded onto the i3.

My question - Is there a way to view ALL cameras without having to manually find them from the custom points. I read a feed the other day about the i3 telling you the speed limit as you approach the gatso (or wotever camera it is).

I've been told at the last min to drive to dundee (where i've never even been b4) and I would like it to plot out my route (which it does brilliantly) but I'd also like it to show on the map where the different cameras are.....if thats possible.

Any help is much appreciated ta 8O Rolling Eyes

I used Ash's camera updater program.

My i3 will show the type and speed limit for a camera as I approach it.
As far as I know, it's not possible to view the locations of the cameras en route before you drive it.

I suppose you could simulate the route but I'm not certain whether this would show the cameras.

Hi, welcome to the forums!

Ash's camera software is available from a sticky topic in the 'garmin streetpilot and nuvi' forum (scroll down to the standalone sat nav units' section and you should find it)

basically, you run his program and it automatically download the latest camera release (if you have paid for it!) and it will edit the files so that you always see a camera icon even if you are below the limit.

if you use this and then simulate the route then you should see the locations come up. however, bear in mind that a simulation travels at about 25mph so will take AGES!!

have faith, my young(?!) padawan, that if you can see the camera's in 'custom points' then they WILL function correctly on your way up. just make sure that in the options in the i3 you have ticked the 'proximity alerts' box so you get the warning!

Hi, welcome to the forums! <----- Thanx

Will check out the Ash camera program another time...

I no need the simulation, dont wana sit on my ass watching that lil thing when im not driving Laughing

i was playing about with the POI's and took it for a test drive and it was beeping at me b4 i approached a camera :D

Now i just need to figure out why it keeps telling me no more memory etc... wheneven i'm uploading POI's

Im guessing there will be other posts from ppl with similiar problems.

One question though.....Can i just copy all the POI's onto the mini flash card through a card reader and hope it works?!?!?! How does the garmin read the POI files?

so many questions to ask 8O ?!?!?!??!!

I'm guessing that your i3 was supplied withthe maps on internal memory, and not on an transflash memory card slot.
To load all of the Speed Cameras and, for example, MaFt's POIs you would need to get a microSD card and reader (sounds like you already have, actually).
When you come to update the memory card, put the card in a card reader, and connect THAT to your PC , and NOT the i3. Then the POILoader should recognise your memory card and write to that.

Hope this helps.
