First of all, sorry for the Testing business, I was getting "Invalid Session" error messages, but seem to be able to connect via IE now.
I've just started researching Camera Detectors with a view to buying one, but I'm a little confused and would be obliged if you could help.
It would appear, correct me if I'm wrong, that the items we're talking about here work purely on a database of camera sites to which the user is alerted via the GPS system. Am I right in thinking that they don't actually detect working cameras?
Although being informed of sites is very useful, it's a well known fact that only a few fixed camera boxes actually have a camera working inside them at any given time. With regard to mobile sites, as they're mobile, surely they could be used anywhere?
My apologies if this all sounds rather naive, but as I say, I've just started looking at this matter. _________________ David

Depemds what sort of detector you get, some of the newer ones from Snooper and the like do both - that is radar/laser detectors and databases with GPS to tell you where they are.
I've just bought an Origin B2, which is of the GPS only variety, although it does have a laser module as well - although if you get hit by a laser chances are you've been clocked.
I actually don't tend to drive that fast - but I have 6points on my license for a couple of minor mistakes - both from fixed gatso's so my theory is not to trust any of them and make sure I'm under the limit!
And of course there are several different types of speed cameras - Opps sorry, safety cameras, that use either induction loops or average speeds (Specs) to do you, which can't be detected by a traditional detector.
And of course just like the safety cameras, the GPS type detectors also warn you of blackspots, schools etc, to make them safety devices too.!
