|
|
I am off to spain in a few weeks, and have a TOMTOM ONE.
I am staying near a place called "Los Higuerales", so naturally thought I'd get some maps for the ONE, and everything would be hunky Dory..
However, I have just been around to a friend who has the PPC version with Maps of Western Europe v6.5 (about 800 or so MB).
Looking at my destination in spain, I notice it only has main roads which are a few miles away, and hardly any of the plentiful minor roads. At first I thought he was just showing me the Major roads of Europe, but apparantly not..
Using google earth and multimap(teleatlas) I can see all these minor roads around the area which are vital for navigating around that area, but they don't appear in the TOMTOM Maps..
Have I been mistaken? are there more detailed maps? perhaps the standalone Iberia map? or are the TOMTOM maps a subset of the teleatlas data??
Could someone check on their 710/910 etc and see if it shows any of the minor roads around Los Higuerales..
Thanks..

There are lots of little roads, all marked as "Unnamed road", though. THis is on a 910. _________________ Tim |

Thanks Tim.. that's sort of good news..
Of course the question now is, which maps do I buy to get that coverage on the TOMTOM ONE?..
Any help is greatly received!!! |

On the 910 Looking at Spain.
Los Higuerales:
All unnamed roads.
However, there is also a Los Higuerales(Arboleas) with plenty of named roads. |

Cheers.
I don't mind the roads being unnamed roads, as long as most of them are there.. I can set all my destinations from the map, and have long/lat coordinates of the places I need to go..
For example, if someone could check..
The villa we are staying in is just off a minor road and the coordinates are
Lat :37°24'32.43"N
Long: 2° 3'37.15"W
On Multimap, all the minor roads appear,n Maps of Western Europe 6.5, the are no roads at all anywhere near this location..
If the 910 does have these, perhaps I could look at Upgrading my ONE to a 710 or 910.. |

That location shows up just off an un named road on the 910, the nearest named place on the screen is called "Los Higuerales" which is immediatly North of your location (map version 650) - Mike |

The location shows up as on a un named road on my TT1 with Iberia+ map I downloaded from tomtom a couple of weeks ago. Cost £41.00,
I am also off to Spain near Trujillo central Spain.
The map is V632.0 and it has all the new roads around Madrid airport terminal 4, which is a new terminal opened in February this year. So just the job as we will be flying into that terminal.
The combination of Tomtom one and Google earth is a dream especially as most of the area we are going to stay in is at hi resolution. So have been able to find places we want to go to on Google earth, then feed the Lat/Long into tomtom, can even identify cars in car parks in the cities, so have marked them down as POIs. Will see how accurate things are soon. |

Cheers guys..
I wonder if it is just the Maps of Western Europe (v6.5) that are just lacking in detail..
I'll probably just buy the Iberia map then!! if they do improve the MoWE I can always get those later!!! |

Don't buy them too soon. The maps may be updates before you go! _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)
