I've just bought what I thought was a brand new Garmin 310 deluxe from Halfords. On futher inspection I found a post code and phone number in the "favourites" menu. I phoned the number and the guy on the other end of the phone said he had no idea how that information came to be on the sat nav. So of course, I'm now starting to wonder if this unit is in fact, new. This is the first sat nav I have ever bought, and I would value any thoughts on weather this is normal or not. Though it does'nt sound like it to me.
Thanks for your help everyone.

to the forum Russ,
The unit has been used
Option 1, person has had unit and returned it for refund or exchange.
Option 2, Unit has been out in the shop and possibly someone has demonstrated its capability (vey unlikely given the postcode and Phone number).
I would be back to Halfords double quick, see the manager and use this as a bargaining tool to your advantage they have in my opinion broken the law and a phone call to the Trading Standards will confirm this. |

I'd go with option 1.
I returned my 310d back to Halfords due to the widely reported problems with the GTM12 TMC receiver.I'm sure others may have done the same.
However I did take the precaution of deleting all personal information off the Nuvi before taking it back. |

Thanks a lot for the welcome and the advice. After listening to what you said, I've taken it back this morning and got a full refund. The Manager did'nt actually admit it was secondhand (Surprise) but he did say "They nomally get wiped" I should have asked what he ment by it, but I just wanted to get my money back and get out of there.
Thanks again all. |
