I was fairly convinced that Tom Tom was the best option to go for, but after reading about all these places/roads mssing/wrong I am being to have doubts Rolling Eyes

I don't want to make an expensive mistake Exclamation

Would seasoned Tom Tom users buy it again if given the choice or swop to Navman Question

Paul,

I’ve had TTNav2 for just over 6 months. It is my first navigation system. To answer your question: Yes I would happily buy TomTom again :D . I like its features, especially the user downloadable POIs and the third party add-ons.

I will admit to not having used any of the Navman products, but I made my decision based mainly on the information I found on the PocketGPS website. Thumbs Up

A lot of the problems with places or roads either missing or wrong is due to the map data that TomTom uses. TomTom get their data from TeleAtlas, and Navman get their data from NavTech. Having said that, Navman may be using TeleAtlas data for the SmartMap2 software upgrade on the ICN 630 in January 2004. So will they switch to TeleAtlas for all of their products?

See this thread for further details:

I have both TomTom 2 and SmartST Pro. I prefer the user interface of TT2, but choose to use SmartST because I find that it has more accurate mapping and more useful spoken directions. I can think of 2 specific junctions where TT2 tells me to turn right although such a manouvre is not allowed, but SmartST correctly tells me to take a more indirect but legal route.
