I've now edited the menus_320_240.ui file to give an 'EASY' routing option as well as the usual three as outlined here:

http://my.pdamill.com/viewtopic.php?p=13531#13531

I have to say that it works fantastically well and provides a clearly different alternative route!

Try the edit, it really works. The file you need is in the DATA.ZIP file:

DATA.ZIP , ui_mio , menus_329_240

MAKE A BACKUP OF THIS FILE FIRST AND KEEP IT SAFE. then edit a copy on your PC.

Try and edit this file 'in place' within the archive. An editor like 7zip (free) will do this. After the edit, save the archive. DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME!
It will not work if it's called DATA.zip. It must be DATA.ZIP.
Then transfer it back to the Mio

Thanks to Linknet for the original tip!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Also if you really want to see something cool on your Mio, try this :

1) Set the view to 2D (not cockpit)
2) Set map to North Up
3) Tilt the view so that you can see about 5mm to 8mm of blue horizon
4) Set the zoom so that the scale is 100yds

Drive around or follow a route in this mode ad watch in awe as the Mio employs parallex, vector scaling & distortion and smooth movement!
It just seems to all gel together at this combination of settings!

Great way to get someone's jaw to drop if they have a gps too!!

Could you explain what "easy routing" is?

/M

I forgot to mention that this is for the Mio 510 /710.
The 'Easy' routing option is another type of routing. It picks a route with the least number of road changes so it's the 'Easiest' one to drive on.
Other options already there are 'Fastest', 'Shortest', and 'Economical'.
