|
|
I have twice lost the satellite signal when I have travelled through the Dartford Tunnel. While I realise the signal will be lost, can anyone explain why my Nuvi does not regain the signals after emerging from the tunnel? I have travelled miles from the tunnel expecting the signals to be active, but they do not. I have cycled powered off/on and the signals returned. Am I missing something or is this normal for the Nuvi? |

It is a known default of the SIRF III chipset also present on the 60CSX handset. The Sirf III firmware has been recently upgraded but it does not fix the "tunnel" problem. Waas/ Egnos disable "may" ease the satellite recovery. (To be confirmed)
Only current solution: stwitch the unit off then on.
New Sirf III firmware upgrade will probably solve the problem.
WARNING: Take care not to use WebUpdater as several Nuvi owners have lost their unit during a software/firmware with WebUpdater with this message:" Software missing".
Do the S/W upgrade manually.

Thanks Jamus,
I thought my problem was unique to my Nuvi only. Thank you also for your warning of the Webupdater, I had recently used it to update the software and did not encounter any problems. I will heed you warning for future updates however. I will try the Nuvi with Waas / Egnos disabled, as I will be using the Dartford tunnel again at the weekend.

As I said in my last post, I would give my Nuvi with Waas / Egnos disabled when I wastravelling through the Dartford Tunnel this weekend.
Well I can say that Jamus was correct, and my Nuvi did search for satellite signal when I emerged from the tunnel.
Thank you Jamus for your suggestion
