Not wanting to stick with the horrible fiddly TT mount I've had a go at making my own -

It can be seen here:

It may not be to everyones' taste, but I don't get the power off/on problem any more....

Gosh you have given that some thought well done that man. 8)

Still think it’s a shame that you can spend so much cash on a product that you need to modify to get it to work though. Sad

And are still pleased with it. 8O 8O

I know, but I kinda like doing my own improvements. I did try and get TT to send me a new mount to try, but they insisted that I send the whole unit back to them - which I was not going to do - I'd just spent £500 on it and I was not going to be without it for a couple of weeks. No, it was a case of take it back for a refund or mess about with the mount.....

TT said they wouldn't send out a new mount because it is a 'high-cost item' - I have seen them advertised for around £20, so I guess TT get them for a fiver or so, hardly 'high-cost'. If that amount is 'high-cost' to them then the £500 for the whole deal must be Absolutely Astronomical-Cost!

What their reply really meant was 'Stuff You Mate'.

Thanks for that. We have been trying to come up with ideas ourselves.
I will pass this on to hubby and see if he fancies a bit of DIY!

Nice idea, but I'm not sure high powered magnets and Hard Drives are a good combination.

The magnets are a good way away from the unit itself - and the proof is in the eating - I have had no problem with this or with phones and PDA's on magnetic mounts that I have used for years
