Hi,

Please can I ask for some help. Smile

I have an old Ipaq 3970 and I want to use TomTom 5 on it. 8)

List of equipment used.

Ipaq 3970 with Windows mobile 2002
TomTom 5 Bluetooth Receiver MkII

Software: TomTom 5 Nav.

I have installed TomTom 5 on my SD card, plugged it into the Ipaq and it seems to work ok, however I can't seem to make a connection with my Bluetooth receiver. I has paired it up ok and made a bond. Crying or Very sad

When running TomTom nav, it does not seem to recognise the Bluetooth receiver, :x

Where am I going wrong? Do I need Windows mobile 2003? Sad

Thanks

You need to tell TT what receiver you are using. Go into change preferences then Show GPS status. Then hit configure. At first choose Tom Tom BT receiver and see if it pairs. If not don't choose other BT connections. Instead go for Other NMEA. Choose a port number and then in the next window a Baud rate. You may need to experiment a bit with those to get them right. Then you should be OK - but you will need to leave it for 20 to 30 minutes outside with a clear view of the sky to get your first lock.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me,

I went into TT preferences, hit config and selected tomtom bluetooth receiver and it did not pair up. If I choose another BT connections, what should the port number be?

I have left the BT receiver out for an 1hr.

Thanks

Its not a case of pairing up - that is done before. Its telling TT where to look for whats paired I think. You need to wait 20 or so minutes with a clear sky view to see if it works. That should work if you have a TT BT receiver. If not try other NMEA (not other Bluetooth) and experiment with the post number and baud rate

Hi,

I have an 3970, with a BT receiver (GlobalSat 338), running PocketPC 2002....so it WILL work!

The settings I have are:

Other NMEA GPS
Baud rate = 38400
BlueTooth Serial comm port 8

Hope that helps...

IF the Receiver is "Talking" to the iPAQ, the little black/yellow segmented circle at the top-right of the screen will look like its turning (This may take 10-20 seconds after you hit the "Bluetooth Serial coms port 8" option (Well, it did on mine!)
