GPS now a mass market item?

I remember only a few years ago there were still very few people using GPS systems. Back when TomTom Navigator v1 was still the cutting edge.

If you went into Halfords or Dixons you didn't see much in the way of SatNav, it was mostly confined to very expensive in car systems.

Now of course it's entirely different, products like the TomTom ONE have now made GPS an affordable prospect for your average driver and it's something everyone seems to know about.

Maybe in a couple of years you will be hard pushed to find someone who doesn't have a GPS system of some sort?

How long until they become stealable like the latest phones, or then, not worth stealing like my phone ;-) ?

Seen a huge increase in ads lately, and people like Goodmans are jumping in on the act. Lots of big boys will be getting a sat nav toy in the stocking at Xmas I suspect.

If manufactures are going to put them in then they will need to be better than they are the moment - need better ability to be able to put in your own POIs - better software and an SD slot would help as a starter.
