I was running TTN V3 on my iPaq3970 under PPC 2002 quite nicely, and the I went and upgraded to PPC 2003 and NOTHING! It is a pucker 2003 upgrade, ROM version 4.00.08 ENG and OS version CE 4.20.
I can reload TTN5 OK, and the GPS software, but when I go to set up the GPS I get a COM port not installed error message.
I have tried diabling the IR Beam function, and several hard and soft resets. I have tried all the combinations of COM ports and speeds in the GPS set up section of TTN5, at least I think I've tried them all. I have regressed to TTN2 and TTN3, still no luck.
Everything else works OK, the map are fine etc.
Anyone have any ideas about how to manipulate the COM ports? I'm not really technically minded, I just want to use the thing.
p.s. I have tried TT support but the came back with nothing that helped.

Sorry about that, its a Rikaline 6010.
I have checked the Rikaline section of the Forum and it appears that this unit is not suffereing the battery problem, at least the light flashes OK as it used to.

Have you tried using "other NMEA" rather than "other Bluetooth" when trying to set up TT? |

Yes, when you enter the GPS set up section of TT5 it gives you 4 options for the GPS device, Bluetooth TomTom, Cable TomTom, Bluetooth Other and Cable Other. I have tried both of the wired options.
From what I can glean from various forums, this one and PDA ones etc. it's a COM port issue with the PDA running PPC 2003, but from there on in I'm stuck?
Thanks for the help so far, please keep it coming.

I got TTN5 to work with both a Navman and a Garmin BT device by selecting Other Cable (it's called 'Other NMEA GPS' in the latest offerning, I think) and then selecting BT Comport 8, but my 3970 is running PPC2002. Might be worth a try, though. _________________ Tim |

hi,
Don't know if this will work for you but on one of my systems I have to use the 2.07 driver after every soft reset of the PDA. You can download it from this site. Just run it and select the correct protocol and com port and then exit. TT5 should connect properly next time you start it.
Good luck
