|
|
Hi,
I have just updated to 2.7
We are going to York next weekend from Northampton, so I thought I would look at places close in the custom POIs I have loaded (thanks to MaFt - cheers!).
If I navigate to York from Northampton (with GPS off), then select FIND NEAR, pre-loaded POIs show the correct distance from York (i.e. Shopping Centres show 0.2 miles, and 1.2 miles to the McArthur Glen).
If I select one of the custom POIs (e.g. McD's) then it correctly gives me the closest one at the top of the lift - McD's in York, with a distance of 122 miles. This is the distance from Northampton to the McD's. The rest of the list shows the closest ones to York in order, but not with correct mileages from York (i.e. McD's in Sheffield is further down the list, but shows less miles as it is closer to Northampton than York).
Seems to be a bug - anyone else noticed this? |

Does indeed sound like a bug, but who would care? |

Is it because they are showing the distances 'as the crow flies' rather than true road distance? |

The only reason I care about this is that I like to check for local places - such as a Tesco's if we go to a camp site cabin, or a McD's to take the little one to.
It is handy, so that we don't have to take lots of food with us - we can go shopping when we get there. |

No it is def a bug. In my vast vast programming experience (get ready zx81 fans) it should be corrected as follows:-
10 Print "Where is nearest McDonalds"
20 Print "Who gives a , eat something decent"
30 Goto 10
I of course stand to be corrected on my programming and will continue in my role as national defence security network manager |

Probably the crow would taste better.
I only use McD's as an example.
The supermarket is more important - especially when you have a 2 1/2 year old and the car is full of toys and other stuff and there is no room to take food! |

i've noticed the same - if you go to the preloaded ones it gives distance from your final point but on the custom ones it gives distance from where you are before you get there. still, once you;'re there it's easy to get around and find the local ones! |
