Could someone be kind enough to email me version 2.0.2 too? For some strange reason I can't even enter my email address and security code into the text boxes as no keyboard appears! _________________ Adrian<font size="1">

Has nayone tried the latest versions 3.1.2 to see if you can use CheckPOInt without the synchronisation feature? _________________ Steve |

CheckPOInt version 3.0.1 is now available. This should enable the keyboard for entry of the synchronization code.
It is still not possible to add to or to amend overlays that are "Not synchronized", but as in version 2 it is possible to monitor POI in these.
I have asked the author to allow the updating of the "Not synchronized" overlays, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will do it. It would be even better if Synchronization was an option, then I for one would not use it. It seems that at present you must at least use Refresh on the Synchronize screen before the "More" button which gives access to the new features is available. I am unable to check what this will actually do as I have already invoked Synchronize.
As DavidW says, there are just too many overlays involved when Synchronize is activated.

I had to do a similar trick to Oldie (though I could have flipped open my Podzilla and retrieved my HP/Compaq folding keyboard).
If anyone else does set up CheckPOInt 3.0 and POIplace on their Pocket PC - do you agree with my findings?
I've gone back to 2.0.2 and am happy with that. I still have no idea how to get the synchronisation settings from 3.0 out of my machine, but I can live with that. I expect my 3970 will eventually get upgraded to Pocket PC 2003 - they'll disappear then!

This happened to me too. I found that if you start Note from the New menu (bottom LH corner of the screen) then the keypad stays and you can enter your code.
However, in the light of DavidW's remarks above do you really want to continue with the installation
I have emailed CheckPOInt about the keyboard problem and the fact that the "More" button does not appear unless Synchronization is activated. No response yet. I would like the new features for updating POI overlays but without Synchronization.

Dave,
CheckPOInt version 3 has just been posted. New features for updating overlays have been added. These are accessed by a "More" button at the bottom of the window that is displayed when recording a POI. Unfortunately, this is only accessible if the new upload/download synchronization scheme is used.
Personally, I do not like two way synchronization schemes, but I would like the new features to update my own POI overlays on the PocketPC.

I have CheckPoint 1.1 and 1.2 on my hard disk, if someone wants to mail me 2.x then I'll put it up on the website. |

Dave,
As this does seem a problem for people, is it worth having the old version in the downloads section - as you can't download the old one from Checkpoint?

Phew!
I was just dowloading the new version in parallel with downloading this thread.
I think I'll pass on the upgrade for the moment too.
Thanks for being Guinea Pigs guys.
I have all of the old versions (sad aren't I) and will EMail to anyone who needs them too

Tony_B - have emailed it to you at your profile address.
I've now gone back to 2.0.2 as well. Meanwhile - I did notice a CheckPOInt.ovs file in my map directory - don't know if that had anything to do with the synchronisation settings I couldn't get rid of (though it appeared to be 0KB - it's been deleted, anyway).

Having loaded ver 3 and forgetting to keep a copy of 2.0.2 I am now kicking myself. It loads 127 images in MyDocumnets taking up at last 200K. it seems slow to respond as well.
Does anyone have a copy of 2.0.2 they can send to me. |
