Just thought i'd ask what maybe a stupid question! but worth a shot...

Is it possible to secure a TTG in a car without the suction arm? The reason i ask is because i use a variety of fleet cars everyday with a company, up and down the country.

Now i want to use my TTG but dont want to carry the suction arm and secure that everytime i get into a new car, so wondered if there was a way of securing the TTG safely, that i havent thought of?!.

I did think of some sort of velcro strap around the TTG and attaching it to the pull out "drinks holder" and strapping it around this ( i did try something similar with big elastic bands which was fine but not great!), just so its viewable and the strap can be put back into my pocket far easier than the suction arm! 8O

I just thought i'd ask on the off chance, although it does seem a rather silly question now i look back at it Embarassed Laughing

How about the Garmin idea of a little 'bean bag'.

Velcro seems to be the way many go. I've had some success with this, sitting it on the dash infront of the speedo/rev counter on the clio.

I've recently ordered the TomTom Vent mount kit too and I'm also looking into modifying a cheap PDA vent mount I got off ebay!

My main motivation behind all this is a) To get the GO in a position that I can read with as little eye/head movement as possible and b) To try and hide the Go from view of scumbags when on the road.

The trendy shape of the Go and the fact you need to use the shoe to make use of an external antenna doesn't make it easy to mount compared to the flat PDA type boxes of some competitors. The same goes for putting it into your pocket when on the move; I also take the Go on the occaisional cycle ride in which case it makes a heavy lump in the bumb bag!

Yes the velcro strip would be good as its so small..

But its knowing where to position it? around the steering column?

Then this would be out of the way of people looking in etc as you mention..

Secondly just as an afterthought :

Do you need the suction arm to use the Car Charger? as the charger goes into this while the TTG is on its base.. Can you plug the car charger into the actual TTG direct?

Rolling Eyes

(Didnt think of this...)

It plugs into the back - you just lose the auto on/off function.

I bought the Alternate Mount kit and use the Air Vent attachment.
Attached my TTG500 external antenna mount to it.

Now closer for me to read and touch screen to change settings.
Plus if need be just pull off air vent to totally detach.
