|
|
Hi there
I have installed some POIs and I appear to have lost my Jane Voice prompts.
I have tried to select it in preferences but it says none are installed.
However when I look at what programmes I can remove, it says that Jane is one of them.
I cannot find the file on my system or storage card.
Can someone help me to overcome this problem?

The voice files are stored in:
My Documents\tomtom
Make sure you have 2 'data05' files in there,
You may need to copy them back from the CD if they are missing,

I lost voice commands (Jane etc) from TT5 today for the third time since July. Not aware of anything I am doing to make them disappear - as I only use my Mio 168 for satnav and everything else is ok.
Whilst I can download and instal them again easily enough, it's a pain. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can avoid this happening again, or is it a known bug perhaps?
Thanks in aniticipation |

I've read here that voice files can live in MyDocuments/TomTom - if this is so, then storing only the voices you want on the IPAQ would alleviate any SD card issues, as well as reducing the amount of memory you need to store them.
Am I right?

It might alleviate the SD card problems, but it will consume valuable system memory which is a scarce resource on the PDA - the more that is left avail for the applications to run in the better. In addition if the PDA looses its battery or suffers a hard reset then you will loose the voices if they are in memory so make sure it is well backed up to the SD, CF or internal non-volatile memory - Mike |

It's happened to me twice now. Lost the voices. I did notice that TT came up with the initial disclaimer screen on both occasions.
A soft reset fixed it each time. |
