Never knew GPS=CHAOS

Hello All.

Excuse me if I'm wrong.. but for the past month or so I have been looking at GPS forums, magazines reviews etc.. in an attempt to decide what PDA GPS unit to get.. Needless to say Im lost in the vast chaos of the GPS world..
I have been from shop to shop and of course the salesmen are even deeper in this GPS chaos than the end user!

I would appreciate it if someone can answer a few simple questions:

-I would like to get a pda gps unit.. I have been looking at the mio 168.
in terms of the hardware is it good? robust? etc?

-What software bundle shall i get with it? i will mainly use it for London and general UK travel (perhaps europe and usa for 'walk mode').
i would like to have TMC but not a must.
Voice directions must be clear as i am a little deaf!
i would like maps that get updated fairly frequently.

I would appreciate an non biased view.. just a few simple answers.
