Hi all,
In my truck i have been useing a laptop for navigation.
I decided its about time to upgrade my computer ang got a
IBM Lenovo, The output of the psu is 20v 65w. The problem is when i plug the psu into my 240v inverter (the inverter shuts down).
The computer works fine if pluged in at home.
The inverter will handle up to 1200w, I have got a 2nd inverter and it shuts that down too! IBM have sent me a 2nd psu and have same problem with that one.
I guess these Lenovo psu's are a bit too dirty for my inverters.
Anyone know a way round this problem.
Or it looks like im stuck with my old Toshiba Evil or Very Mad
Paul

Paul - no doubt it's a switched mode power supply. They are notoriously 'peaky' in terms of load. The PSUs in PCs are apparently capable of burning out the mains distribution wiring in older office buidings for this reason.

One thing you could do is to buy a 'universal' car laptop power supply such as those that Maplin sell. I have one here that can be set to 20V 120Watt and I think it cost a tenner. However, that won't help if you only have 24V outlets in your truck...
