Hi there,
I just ordered for 40 euros the Speed Camera for Belgium, and downloaded the zip file from TOMTOM web site.
I've tried to open the ov2 files with POI Edit, but I'm getting an error, like if the ov2 files were protected.
Anybody has an idea ?
Thanks ! |

I believe that all downloads using the TomTom Plus facility are encrypted so that only the original device that downloaded the product will be able to use it.
Do the speed cameras appear on your Belgium map?

Yes, the POI's (Radars for Belgium) I downloaded from TT are visible on my TOMTOM GO ...
But it is just that POIEdit on my PC can't open the ov2 files ... as if they were protected ...

Hi cdelecole,
TomTom encrypt (protect) the files downloaded using the TomTom Plus facility so that only the original device that downloaded the product will be able to use it. Hence POI Edit won’t be able to open it.
Nobody likes it when somebody takes your own work (POIs, voices, etc) and passes it off as his or her own work. This is especially so, when you’re selling a product or service. TomTom have just taken steps to ensure that nobody else distributes or sells their work.

That is correct. The PLUS POIs from the TomTom site are encrypted and locked to the device that you downloaded them onto. This means that you need to use your device to convert them therefore they will not work on another GO, PPC or POIEdit etc. _________________ Mike Barrett |

mmm ... my intention was not to modify the POI's I bought from TT to redistribute them ...
It was just to compare those POI's I paid for, with free POI's I downloaded from internet ...
just to see how fine TT work was ... |
