I could use some help. I cannot find anything on TomTom's website about the Traffic service however I would like to register.
I have a GPRS enabled sim in my mobile and can set up a bloothtooth connection to the IPAQ, but need to understand the additional charges etc.
Does anybody know the setup info so I can test this prior to taking out the sub?
Also what other options are available that will work with tomtom?
Thanks |

Hi Johnyb,
It depends on the model of your iPAQ, the network you’re with, and whether you are contract or PAYG.
If you are with Orange then you’re in luck. Just check their website as they will show you the correct procedure for your system. Alternatively just ring their customer care line and they’ll talk you through the set up.

I know the APN and other GPRS settings, but how do you configure tomtom?
Do I have to install some additional software on the Ipaq?
How do I get the software, and how do I register?

Hi Johnyb,
If you can get your iPAQ to browse a website via GPRS. Then you’re nearly there. The following BBC news link is a good test:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/text_only.stm
You need the latest version of TomTom Traffic Navigator 3, which is TTNav 3.07T and is downloadable from the TomTom website.
You also need a to create an account, if you haven’t already done so, for My TomTom.
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1
You can then go to My Traffic and activate a free trial, for which you’ll need your TomTom Product code.
