Cheers Dave i have moved the antenna right to the very corner of the windscreen and pointed it on an angle and it seems to have worked been ok for the last 2 days,

Could anyone please give me any help with regards to gps problem i purchased tom tom navigator1 2 weeks ago all was well, very impressed but now all that happens is every 100 yards or so i get the message gps unreliable i have actually missed a turning because of this problem and when i get the signal back the map is at least 1 mile away from where i actually am i have to reset the software at least 3 times a day all this has happened since i installed gpsassist any help much apprieciated.

Which GPS receiver are you using (the one that comes with TomTom Navigator) ? Also which car ? |

I am indeed using the one that came with tom tom the car is a mondeo with heated screen but right in the corner is a clear area ie no heating elements.

Stillo, this does sound like it's the heated screen causing the problem. Try to make enough cable available so you can move it off the dashboard and hold it outside of the window. When it happens (I'd suggest parking before attempting this), go to the GPS Status screen, wind down the window and hold the Leadtek receiver outside of the window. If the signal bars go up after 5-10 seconds from 2 or 3 to 5-7 then I would say you need to look at purchasing a re-rad antenna. Sometimes you can get away with moving the antenna to the corner of the windscreen, but it doesn't always work that well. |
