Hi,
It looks like there is a new 4.40-update for the GO-software. Files have different sizes and the setup.apk has a date of sept 28th. Weeks later than the initial release.
This must be in response to all the complaints users had.
I'm now trying to get a confirmation from TomTom…

I think they have just added a new USB driver for Win98. |

You seem to be right. TomTom gives adding the USB-driver as the reason the files have been changes.
Pity, because we all wanted a beter 4.40...! |

I suspect that if they were to release another patch that they would increase the version number. It would not make any sense not to as they would have a diaster trying to support it when asking users for version numbers. _________________ Mike Barrett |

in any event, the files are different :
e06d7aa030b2ba18a62d509d0e274b29 cp.txt
b77b2a0ba459b5a5962a854ac9daa87a setup.apk
f8a68faa720fafaa5c7b4548a291f75a setup.exe
c7d2c1096b9f24dddd24155483867576 ttn.txt
are the md5sums for v4.40 (which is still available)
and for 4.42 :
e06d7aa030b2ba18a62d509d0e274b29 cp.txt
b6be4be12eaa1471361dce8909591a5c setup.apk
4ee5080423abe37990752102efaa857b setup.exe
c7d2c1096b9f24dddd24155483867576 ttn.txt
so basically cp.txt and ttn.txt are the same. the setup.* files differ.
other observations are:
v4.40 application v4.400 2843/040900 OS 200 gps 1.21 boot 1.35
for the old version. haven't had tiome to install the new version yet. maybe someone else can give this info ? |

ok here you go.
v4.40 application v4.400 2843/040900 OS 200 gps 1.21 boot 1.35
v4.42 application v4.420 2852/041010 OS 201 gps 1.21 boot 1.35
so both the application as well as the OS seems to be changed. |

given the fact that both the kernel has been updated slightly as well as the ttn (navigational part) -- I'd say yes. it doesn't hurt. if you keep the 4.40 version you can always go back if you think the update isn't worth it. |
