Hi I'm a relatively new GO user so forgive me if this question has already been answered.
I downloaded the PocketGPS speed camera database and whilst it gives visual and audible warnings when a route is entered, it only gives a visual warning when no route is entered ie when its just ticking over.
On the occasions that I drive to known destinations I dont enter a route, but I still require an audible reminder of cameras. Is there any way of getting an audible warning when no route is entered
thanks |

When you set up the "Warn when near POI" option, uncheck the box "Warn only when POI is on route" that follows the distance to POI screen. If you do this you may get odd results if you are in an urban area with speed cameras on adjacent roads, e.g. the M621 West going out of Leeds has no cameras on it, but when I unchecked the box the speed camera alert went off to warn me of a camera on the nearby A643, which as I know this bit of road well and wasn't expecting it, made me jump two feet in the air! IIRC, the alarms do work without a route set if you do this. |

...because you have the "Warn only when POI is on route" box unchecked.
The reality of the situation is this: with TTN3 on the PDA if you turn off the sound in TTN3 itself, because you're using a 3rd party program to do the POI warning it still all works. So you tend to end up always plotting a route, and turning the sound off in TTN3, even when you know where to go.
In TTGO, if you turn off the sound it turns off all the sound, including the POI warning. Because of this, you tend to drive around with no route set in areas where you already know the route. If you do this, you need to have the "Warn only when POI is on route" box unchecked.
I have e-mailed Tomtom support asking them to provide three levels of sound in TTGO: all sounds, POI warnings only and sound off. |
