I know I'm not very bright - I've been told often enough - but can I have this in words of one syllable please.
Will these new version 3 US maps work with TomTom3 UK software?
I ask because it was my understanding that the version 2 US maps would only work with TomTom2 US. They were no good with TomTom2 UK.
Thanks. |

That wasn't TT4, that was a special HP only bundle offering that lacks some features of TT3. _________________ Darren Griffin |

This is great news,
I had not updated my TT2 UK before now as I mainly use TT US,
But on the order form there were multiple spaces,
So put in the Codes from my TT2 US, TT2 UK, and TT2 Euro Discs,
And it accepted the order and upgraded all 3 to TT3 for just 49Euros!!, Wow never thought that would work, real bargain to get all 3 upgraded
Regards

Yes they will work with TTN3 - All versions. |
This is all very confusing to me. As I understand this thread, along with a text of the TomTom Email newsletter I just received, then given I have a copy on TTN3 for the UK, I can now get a set of US maps to use with TTN3.
So I have tried to follow the link from here and via both TomTom Web site and the newsletter. Which ever route I take, on entering my TTN3 Product code, the Web site refuses to offer me this upgrade, and offers a completely different upgrade product not related to US maps in any way.
TomTom customer support has no knowledge of this offer.
Anyone else had this problem.
Thanks..............Dave |

Hi
you can only use this upgrade if you already have the old TomTom2 US Maps,
From your email it seems you are just trying to purchase the US maps and not upgrade (Correct me if I am wrong),
you need to enter the serial number from your original set of TT2 US Maps to qualify for the upgrade,
If you are just trying to purchase US maps for the first time it will not work,
If you do have the US TT2 Maps, make sure you are entering the serial number from those, not your UK set

Hi Vicky,
Thanks for your reply.
I think you missed the point of my Post.
If you read the first sentence at the very top of this thread from Darren it reads:-
"TomTom today announced the availability of Mapping data for USA and Canada compatible with Navigator 3."
Along with the additional text Darren put on the Home Page screen:-
"This is great news for anyone who travels to the USA or Canada on business or holiday and removes the compatibility issues that arose from having to use TTN2 for US coverage as well as adding Canada coverage."
And from TomTom emailled Newsletter dated 18/10/04:-
"New extras for TomTom Navigator 3
Are you about to discover America? TomTom Navigator 3 offers now all maps of the United States plus Canada. Find your way across the USA and Canada with all useful Points of Interest on your way, such as: petrol stations, restaurants, hotels, motels and special cultural locations.."
Both point to the link that you added.
So the implication is that if you have TTN3, for the small upgrade cost you can get s set of US maps that can be used with TTN3.

Hi Dave
Sorry but I cant see any of that implication,
TomTom has always offered upgrades on a like for like basis
And as such I upgraded my TT3 US, UK & Euro packages for a total of 49euros, as I had already purchased the TT2 versions,
You cannot seriously expect TomTom to supply you with US maps at the upgrade price when you never purchased the earlier version,
Just because you purchased TT3 UK, you cannot expect the US maps for the upgrade price, This advantage is for people who stumped up the cash for earlier versions,
Mapping is costly, from your reasoning you would expect to buy the UK version, then get the US, Europe and any other area that maps become available for at next to no cost, It just isn't a business practicallity!.
If you are not in the US on a regulare basis then just pay the few bucks a day to get SatNav in your rental car it will work out cheaper,
Regards
