The main program is working fine. There are 2 cameras I pass going home that are facing the other way so I can overdo it a little to test in a moving vehicle.
The kindly donated slowdown WAV file is far too quiet though. I reckon it's only about a quarter the volume of the main WAV files. Even though I have a very quiet car I couldn't hear what was being said.
I'll have a look at increasing it in Adobe Audition but I suspect increasing it by 400% may well distort it. That will be a weekend task so in the meantime I'll have a hunt .........................
Found some:

That's odd! I have just checked and it is the same volume as the other WAV files I have been using (I think they are off the PGPSW site) and they all play fine on my Nuvi 660 with about 90% volume. Your sound files are obviously much louder.
I see no reason why you can't digitally amplify. I'll try, and send you a new copy if successful.

Don't worry, the one I've selected from the above link should be OK for me. I'm going to run with the "Caution, reduce your speed now"
All that needs to happen is whatever WAV you choose just needs to be called 'overspeed.wav' and it will all work perfectly.
The ones in the link are all digital text to speech sounding but not too bad _________________ DashCam:

Apologies, but I'm not clear if you have posted the updated code yet. Is it the link on page 1 of this thread or are you still testing?

I built the installer yesterday, I'll submit it today for your testing but give the team here time to upload it. The new version number will be 2013.07.xx, up from the current 2013.04.xx
I still need to slightly increase the volume on the WAV I got yesterday but that doesn't affect you.
I haven't had time to alter the help file yet. What you will notice is a new checkbox above the cameras count. It references the overspeed settings and switches between included and separate.
Select separate and at the end you will notice a few additional processing steps where it is stripping out the required overspeed lines from each camera type and appending them to a new single 'overspeed.gpx' file.
Works fine for me :D _________________ DashCam:

What about keeping it short and simple - something like:
"Check your speed"
I have a male voice WAV file I made using 'Natural Voice', if you want.

PS. Have been using your software on my Garmin 1690 for a while now. Thanks - great job.

Thanks
I need something with a bit more 'urgency' for those rare occasions.
I'm going to increase the volume on the one above by about 25% - 30% at the weekend and see how that goes. _________________ DashCam:

Any news on how it's going?

The latest download from page 1 of this thread should now be the version that includes the separation of Approach v Overspeed if you select that option.
You can check once installed as it's version number is 2013.07.xx
The standard latest speed zoned WAV files from here I find perfect. The Overspeed WAV you have to get/construct yourself as it's not part of the standard set.
I have a few samples that are too quiet but I have the house to myself tomorrow for a few hours so I'm going to hit these ones with Adobe Audition and get them as loud, if not louder than the standard set.
(without the house to myself she always starts talking when I need peace and quiet for audio work) _________________ DashCam:

|

Kremmen,
Got your software up and running, downloaded a over-speed wav from one of the links in a previous reply, found the volume fine.
What I find is, I'm driving along and get a camera warning, but even if under the speed limit keep getting the over-speed warning is this correct?
Settings in program camera 30 speed 20 sec and over-speed 8 say..
get the over-speed for a total 16 seconds..even if crawling along a 20.
Is there any way to only have the over speed warning if you are over the speed.
Tested on A and B Roads at all speeds and on the motorway "camera speed 70, but I'm only moving at <60"
Update just found poi loader set to metric, resent files to unit and will test in the morning.
Keep up the good work.

Glad you sorted it as I'm not having that issue.
I've got a doctored overspeed WAV but as is sods law the one camera I can safely test it on has been subject to heavy traffic so I haven't got it to kick in yet. _________________ DashCam:

This update has some from Kremmen and myself
you can download from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/downloads/CSVtoGPXSetup.exe
The updates include:
Changes to the speed camera choices layout
Changes to the menu options
Hope you all enjoy and all feedback appreciated |
I am trying to use this for the first time, but I cannot get it to work. I have copied the bmp and wav files to my working directory, but when I download the speed camera database it doesn't appear in the left-hand pane. If I click on the menu drop-down to unpack the file, I just get an error message. "Unzip Unable to cast COM object of type 'System._ComObject' to interface type 'Shell32.Shell'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{286E6F1B-7113-4355-9562-96B7E9D64C54}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).13 |

Ah right, that old nugget again.
I'll need to get the latest code from WalkerX and push it through InstallShield to re-establish the links.
Go back to the previous version temporarily by using the link in the first post of this thread. _________________ DashCam:

I've finished one of the projects I've been working on so hopefully I can get a look at the code this weekend and incorporate some of the changes requested.
apologies for any delays in getting the code updates done |
