copy the installer to a folder of your choice. Run it from there. After setup has started this folder will contain some more subfolders, including nvapp - that has the CAB file. _________________ Lutz

I tried cabinstl and even with that it forced itself into main memory. If you have better luck let me know! Stupid TomTom. I might have to hack the setup.xml file. _________________ http://www.durrans.com/cardspeed/ - Flash Card Speed Tests

But the files in the cab file are not just standard things. They appear to need some sort of setup. The cab file, for me, contains things such as TTN5BT~1.003 and TOMTOM~1.001 _________________ http://www.durrans.com/cardspeed/ - Flash Card Speed Tests

As dunos says despite specifying Bulit-in Storage to cabinstl it still goes into RAM...

have a look at \Windows\Start Menu\Programs
This is where the shortcuts are
delete the defunct TTN shortcut and place a new one here (copy > paste shortcut) _________________ Lutz

Sorted; many thanks - just a shame one has to fiddle around with a "fixed" product... |

I been struggling unsuccessfully with the upgrade to 5.21 all day, trying the .exe, the .zip and .cab approaches.
Whichever way I try, it insists on installing the main .exe file into main memory. If I then copy this to the SD card it fires up, then produces a "don't drive and navigate screen", goes to my home map then freezes.
So I've given up and reverted to a backup of 5.1.
Well done TomTom, you really give me a warm feeling of hating you and your upgrade procedure. The upgrade to 5.1 was applied directly to the SD card and worked fine...so why all the problems with 5.21???? _________________ Nokia E65 & TT Nav6 |

As I said multiple times, there are NO UPDATES in the TomTom world. It's always a full version.
So - feel free to remove the existing program (keep the configs if you like) and then install from scratch. _________________ Lutz

I gave up trying to get the <del>upgrade</del> full version of 2.21 to install to the SD card on my h4150 and have now reverted back to 5.1 thanks to gripp (I knew I should have made a backup!).
The program (5.21) will not install to the SD card if you use windows installer or try to install from .cab using cabinstl. When you extract the cab file there are no .exe files to copy to anywhere.

the files in a cab have numbers. the .000 file describes all actions to be taken and lists all tru file names.
you only need two files
TomTom Navigator.exe
Data.chk
these are easy to find - they are the biggest ones. _________________ Lutz

So in theory I can take TOMTOM~1.001 and 0000data.002 and rename them to TomTom Navigator.exe and Data.chk then copy these to my device and put them in the existing install folders? _________________ http://www.durrans.com/cardspeed/ - Flash Card Speed Tests

Hi
Should we be able to get the spoken speed camera alerts to work with this new version or do we have to wait for a fix from someone on here?
cheers
