Tried the Beta Version today.....it's looks nice but lacks total functionality. I have now gone back to previous version. |

I don't think it 'lacks' functionality so much as 'hides' it. All of the funtions are there but I found that you need to click on each of the buttons to reveal what is actually under them since the headings are a bit brief.
Fot the moment I'm running version 2 on my lap top under XP Pro and the origininal under VISTA Home Premium on my desktop - TomTom 910.
BTW will the mapshare facility come as a software up-date for the 910 does anybody know or is there actually extra hardware in the 520 and 720? |

This Beta stuff is very interesting, but all I want to do is download a version of TomTom HOME which will work with my Rider. I can't find where to do that on the TomTom website home page. The email from TomTom said 'Download and install the latest version of HOME from
"http://www.tomtom.com/home"' but I can't find it. Am I just being thick, or is it tucked away somewhere?

My TT Home Beta version 2 locked up so I removed it from my programmes file before I checked the TT site.
The Beta version trial has finished and they have taken the download off of the site. This is the only TT Home that worked for me.
Is it possible anyone could send me a version by attachment please??

If you install any version, it should offer the update to v2 next time you log on. |

I just set up a colleagues new 520 that came with Home V2. Found it very unintuitive to get third party bits and pieces added through it but did perservere. Found that the easiest way to get the Pocket GPS World safety camera files on was to create a separate folder in the downloads folder and save all the files within that structure. It just wouldn't see it otherwise.
When I tried to introduce some POI's from the download section in OV2 format it didn't want to know. How do I get these introduced? |

Easiest way is to NOT use Home.
Simply copy and paste the ov2 file and the .bmp file into the unit's map folder.
Home needs an extra file (".cab" if memory serves me right) to recognise a POI file. It's rubbish (unless they are DELIBERATELY trying to stop 3rd party POIs being used, which is becoming more and more likely to be the reason).
Home is only actually necessary for downloading new maps and software updates, everything else (including installing those maps and updates can be better done using Windows Explorer.
This is especially true of BACKUPS. Please make sure your friend has a complete backup of the entire memory contents made using Explorer not Home. See the FAQs at the top of this forum section for instructions. |

Thanks for the responses so far. So I've looked at the Speed Camera TOC see below:
The forum was being extremely a.nal about what I could post so I ended up not pasting the Speed camera TOC!
I know I can just simply transfer the OV2 files to the maps folder, but say I wanted to simply download a custom created zipped POI from here and have TomTom 2 do the import, what would I need to change/include to get it to 1) recognise it's existence and 2) import the POI's for me.
Regards,
JR |
