Another update from Kenneth
Quote: | Hello all,
I just talked to the team who are working on this - they need a couple more days of testing and research.
I know you're feeling frustrated and are keen to get a more meaningful response from us. Please hang in there - we are taking this seriously.
Kenneth |
Still doesn't tell us anything and wait a few more days ............ |

Quote: | we are taking this seriously | Is he serious??? Two weeks of nothing but glib statements that they are looking into it. This is just as he (or she, if Kenneth is a girl's name) reaches for his or her coat and locks the office door as he or she heads off for yet another weekend. How much longer before they lock the topic down like the manifesto one? _________________ Dennis

Not good is it really.
Apparently 'taking it seriously' means fobbing off with lame excuses and delaying tactics in TT speak.
Best not post that on the TT forum or Kex will get on his/her high horse and accuse me of being corrosive, subversive or something similar and lowering the tone of the wonderful TT support forum. |

Couple of oddities about the TT Discussions Forum.
1. That thread about the reduced range, I have to log on EVERY time I go there. With all other threads, I don't have to logon, it remembers me (same ID and password). Why is the unwelcome topic so hard to post in?
2. I'd have thought that if TT set up a forum of this nature, they'd try to answer questions and problems. But the number of threads where they contribute nothing at all is alarming - why setup a forum hosted by TT and not give useful help, advice and answers? How long do unanswered questions last on PGPSW Forum? _________________ Dennis

Isn't it strange that the two highest posting topics on the "LIVE Services, HD Traffic and other Services" part of TT forums is "HD Traffic range now reduced fo ALL Tomtoms" with 230 posts and "No HD traffic for a month" a close second with 63 posts. I wonder if there is a theme developing here about HD Traffic At least we only have 22 pages about it here. |

Lets cool it down a bit please - I've just realised the TomTom Support Forum is for users to support TomTom. _________________ Dennis

Just a bit confused by the range that HD is using.
Just looking at my 550 and at the moment I can see Traffic as far away as Darlington (from Oldham) for instance.
Now this is 72 miles as the crow flies or about 100 miles by road. |

Another I've just checked is Wansford near Peterborough
97 miles as the crow flies and 137 miles by road. |

Mine seems to vary as well - some days it is 75 miles as the crow flies, others close to the 100 miles.
I have a feeling TT are playing about behind the scenes to see what happens if they up the range to 100 miles. |

They originally said that they cut the range because of the system being overwhelmed by the number of reports last Winter. Seems to me that they could keep a 100+ miles range under normal circumstances, but when the nation is under several feet of snow reduce the range by quite a lot, as going 10 miles will be quite a challenge anyway. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Surely you meant it was "snowed under"? _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
