I did this last friday and as said by some the favorites go a bit wonky, but that is easily fixed. The brightness is a lot better though.
So far i havent had any issues with it, works a treat, although a friend who has done the same is reporting a few issues with the phone side of things.
I do like the new menus though. One other thing i have noticed is my unit now switches off instantly.

Can anyone confirm that the Google POI search is not possible unless you have LIVE subscription? My data connection disappeared when I installed the new software so I can't check it myself.

@LESP2008 - You can have the latest icon set using the 8,010 software release intended for your device, but it involves running a custom menu on the device so you will lose a couple of functions (MapShare and HelpMe) - it just takes a bit of messing around but is certainy possible to do - you can even do this trick with version 5, 6 and 7 releases of the software Wink

@uffe73 Without the account details the server will not permit log in to get these features, as I said on an earlier page "don't expect all features to work" - Mike

You're probably right. I just hope they won't restrict this feature only to those high mileage drivers who subscribe to the full LIVE package with HD Traffic. The Google POI search would be a very handy feature for all of us.

So long as the discussion is above board then no reason why it should be? We have decided that links to files such as this that are publicly available are not an issue. Links to or discussion of methods to circumvent copy protection etc will not be tolerated.

The big problem for me was losing FM transmission of driving instructions so i reverted back to 8.01 pretty quickly.

But how difficult can it be to get the music and the navigation instruction to play at the same time? Is it a limitation of the sound chip in the unit that prevents this mixing or is it only a matter of writing software that handles it?

It's just down to programming, there is the option to mute or not mute the jukebox audio when you are using the Bluetooth transmission, but they just haven't implemented it on the internal speaker, line output and FM modes.
I've been badgering them for ages to make them ALL optional, so please contact them and suggest it too.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the line out sound quality seemed much better with the new navcore - there was always a nasty whine with 8.01 - so much so that i stopped using it (and also lets be honest it reduced the number of wires by one which is always a plus.

Looking into the "problems" with this version of Navcore I think many of them are caused by the deliberate emasculation of the X40 line - only the (940 has FM transmission) - wiered they've enabled it for MP3 play only(although again only the 940 has the player software ) since if they've enabled on one side why not the other? - if it's a compatibility issue why not just have it none selctable for the lower models rather than crippling the flagship ?

How do you overcome the problem of no voices?
I tried on the 520 unit but had no sound.
Put back to my backup for now.

Not all of us have this problem. For me the voice worked straight away. Is it the recorded voice or one of the computer voices (TTS) that you've lost? In the latter case you may need to reinstall that specific voice, as someone noted earlier.

I have no voice either even after reinstalling both tts and normal on my 720. Am I doing something wrong? I have installed it onto my SD card and on the internal memory ( at different times) and no voice at all.Has anyone any suggestions please.

Hi

Curiosity had me download the navcore 8.203.9717 CAB file.

For those having problems with lack of voices, I found that in file named: LoquendoTTS, there are no voice files.

Therefore if when you upgraded, it may be possible your existing voice files have been lost and this may be a reason you are having problems.

I personally will wait until dust has settled on this one

Mick, Have a read of the post I made at the top of page 2 of this very thread, that details what to do to avoid the issue of wiping out the files and folder structure when installing manually Wink If you do use WinZip then you will end up with far more than the LoquendoTTS folder being ruined - Mike

I personally have no problems with this cab file and the parts of the program I use. I used Winrar to unpack it and copied, using Explorer, it to my TT drive. I think it is much neater looking and everything works as it should do, even my phone pairs!
And also it has not switched itself on and the battery is still charged after a day so perhaps this problem has been sorted.
Have a go lads, but take a backup first!

I thought I would have a look at this download, I to have had problems with the sound.

I found when I connected to my Computer that a few different options appeared, amongst them were the Google Search, Fuel and all the other bits associated with the x40's however there was no keyboard to enable insertion of any information, like log in details etc., now obviously you can type them in, but the problems arose when trying, for example, to put he @ sign in for your login.

I realise that this is probably the way it is meant to be, but maybe, as some people have different results with the voices they will get different results with this.

It even seemed to initially try and get the Traffic bar on the RHS, although obiously no info. was forthcoming as there is no subscription for any of the services available through my 920.

Cheers

Carl

Added: Just messed around with Computer Voice on the Test, Select screen with the silhouette of the Computer Voice person it worked, so selected it, then entered a route and no voice at all again, very peculiar!! It was less than 300% as well.
