You're a genius! I don't know how you worked it out but it worked on my new Peak Class 6 8GB card that I got for £24.09 incl p+p. (Sorry, I got the last one in stock at www.isc-online.co.uk.)

One problem, I tried to copy from my old card to the new one with the latter in my 920. Started copying but after a while got the Invalid Parameter and it wouldn't take anything else. So copied from my old card to my computer using a card reader and then from the computer to the new card in the card reader. All apparently copied successfully. Only 1.5gb so far but will try putting more stuff on when I get home to be sure it takes 7.5gb.

Touching wood!

I've been busy playing with another new toy (Blackberry 8830 which will NOT do data with my US Verizon carrier!!!) so have not had time to experiment.

I plan on flattening the 8gig card again. Copying files from the 4 gig SD back to it but starting with files and folders where I believe stuff gets written to the card, such as the *.pos files and the thumbnail.dat files, hoping to free up or keep, kind of, place holders for those files early in the Card's actual directory so that maybe there will be room to "re-write" these files.

Looking at getting a 520.

Do i have to use a SDHC card, or can i just use any SD card for MP3's on it?

Apparently XP has problems with SDHC support, plus i know my internal card read won't read SDHC, just normal SD's.

Any SD card will work, its just the x20 devices that support SDHC for those that want to try using such cards - the x20 units will quite happily use other "normal" SD cards

Just make sure its a decent read/ write speed to start with to avoid probelms, with 2GB cards costing around £15 they don't break the bank - Mike

I have purchased a Transcend 8GB Class 6 SDHC card, it arrived yesterday. I had the messing about where it thought it was only a 4GB card at first but I followed the advice earlier in this thread and it's now working a dream in My TT Go 520T. Lots of mp3's on it and I downloaded the North American map for the 720 at 2GB nearly it took nearly 3 hrs but its on and works fine on my 520, so I hope that helps with other questions elsewhere in the forum about the 720 maps working ok on the 520.

there are a couple of these available now, but there is also one other thing you are over-looking when it comes to SDHC cards, and that is the chips used, most of these are MLC chipsets, the more reliable and faster versions are SLC NAND types (Slingle Level Cells rather than Multi Level Cells) this can make a lot of difference in transfer speeds and ultimately in stability in these types of environments

MLC version
Code:

SLC Version
Code:

http://www.microdia.com/ebiz/jsp/site/product_details_xtra_sdhc160.jsp

(dont ask how much the 16GB versions are !)

oh, and ISC has the 8GB MLC SDHC Peak cards back in stock at £19.92
Code:

http://www.isc-online.co.uk/isc/product_info.php?cPath=52&products_id=1672

there is also this card reader/writer available too with a little searching, which may cover the requirements needed here, not sure about the capacity issue though, but it's cheap enough to give it a try i guess

Hi
I've just bought a reader/writer from 7dayshop.com and it works with my peak 8gb card. HOWEVER *you need to push the SD card ALL the way in, or it wont read it*. Trust me just give it a bit of an extra shove into the slot if it doesnt work first time!!
Details belows
1 x Dane-Elec - zMate USB 2.0 6in1 Memory Card Reader/Writer (SD-HC Compatible) = £3.99 (postage takes it to 7.95!)

i think i am going to try one of these, Multi-Card Reader M2

not only does it appear that it will work fine with SDHC cards larger than 4GB (transcend already do a 8GB and 16GB card) but it will also handle the xD card from my camera, which is more than my Dell 2707WFP built in card reader can Rolling Eyes

.... just need to work out which card to try now Confused ... have to admit i am tempted by the SanDisk Extreme III Razz their reputation for quality is something not to be sniffed at
