Any ideas if the new version displays speed on the moving map display; that would be useful...... |

There's no information at the moment beyond what's in the press release and the screen shots on the TomTom site. The Flash demo on the TomTom site implies that the speed is not shown on screen on a SmartPhone.

Hi there, thank for all the questions back and forth, very helpful!!
Couple of questions, is there any point in me buying tomtom mobile just now (its only £167 on some websites) or should i wait for tomtom mobile 5 to come out?
Also, i want to be able to use this in europe as well as the UK as we tour there frequently, specifically denmark, but don't know where you get these maps from? Do the tomtom3 europe maps work with a mobile? They look like they only work with PDA's etc, and won't actually work with my nokia 6600.
Last query, Will the new TTM5 reciever be significantly better for "on foot" navigation, as in, is it WAY smaller than the previous version (for ease of pocket use), and does the new version have a different kinda battery? ie can you plug it in to a normal household socket? (not sure what the normal battery life is for these kinds of things when not plugged into the car, so don't know how long it would last while i'm wandering around a city...)
OK, loadsa querys, but will be big help if you can answer them!
Cheers,
Jamie |

We don't know the official release date's as yet, it would be worth holding off on any purchase until that is known but TTMobile 5 is a significant upgrade.
TomTom may offer an upgrade deal to existing owners, if the availability date for v5 is some way off there may be a benefit in getting the existing version now but again without details of if or what the upgrade will entail it is difficult to advise.
The new SiRFIII receivers are much better but unless the extra sensitivity is something you need I would not let this drive my purchasing decision. _________________ Darren Griffin

I wonder how much longer it will be until the main full version is release?
Just bought a Golf Turbo and have no heated screens this time :-) |
