On from this, the seller has been in contact and doesn't have the code or original disc, now there's a suprise, but he said he backed up the pda on the disc he gave me.
Now seeing as I'm a bit of a spaz when it concerns these things, what should I be looking for on the disc, and do I just drag it across into the files in the active synch window, don't really want to start filling up all the storage space with duplicate stuff.
Thanx guys, and please go easy on me, Steve. |

Hi Steve,

Makes it sound like a pirated version, doesn't it?

Have a look on the CD and see if there are any instructions (.txt files) for restoring from the backup.
We do not condone software piracy here on the PocketGPSWorld forums. However this doesn't help you. You should ask the seller for help.
BTW what system (PDA, GPS receiver, etc) did you buy and for how much? Also was the system offered for sale in such a way that it came across as genuine?
If you paid "top dollar" for it then you may be able to claim it back, however if you paid far less than it was worth then you may have to bite the bullet and buy the legitimate software from a reputable retailer.

OK will have a look.
It's a HP ipaq 4150, with a bluetooth gps, it came with the remainder of warranty, ( which is about 6 months ). All the cradle, car mount and leads were with it, paid £250.

Had a look, nothing on there that looks remotely like a back-up or a restore file.
One more question, have someone that has an old version, tom tom 3 with code, will this be any good to load and then download updates to make it more useable, or can i use this code to activate my software, ( or have they thought of that one ).
Steve
PS. Just trying to save a few bucks. |

Took me a good few hours, but I found the file and reloaded TomTom.
The only problem now is that I have no GPS fix, both lights on the bluetooth device are flashing, and the bluetooth is enabled on the pda, have configured the device on the pda but still no fix.
Does this also need software to enable it to work or is it something simple that I have overlooked.

Ok now, followed some simple instructions from the tom tom website and GPS is spinning away.

I have just tried to load an itinerary into the pda, it keeps coming up with "File access error" can someone point me in the right direction.
